Wouldn't surprise me if the whole process became a dog and pony show.

Planning docs were submitted this week for West Side Station, a 29 acre SFH development planned for 2107 Marietta Rd NW. There would be 165 houses.

On the SE Beltline trail, 832 Berne street is seeking a zoning change from industrial to MRC-3/Beltline. This is immediately south of Maynard Jackson High School, near Glenwood Park.

West Side Station is a great light-industrial-to-residential conversion. No displacement of current residents, a newly extended road into the neighborhood (MacArthur), and more residents feeding into Bolton Elementary, and increased density.

It will be interesting to watch the increased awareness people will have of westside neighborhoods like Hills Park, Bolton, and Riverside in the next 24 months. Lots of projects are planned, and a new Publix is currently being built.

Sign of another office tower?

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/real_...ill-brennan-to-focus-on-midtown-for.html

Quote:
The law firm, [Sutherland Asbill & Brennan] anchor tenant in Midtown’s 28-story 999 Peachtree, is interviewing commercial real estate brokerages as it begins to test the market for a new lease........it could renew again at 999 Peachtree, which Franklin Street bought from previous owner Jamestown in 2013 for almost $158 million. Sutherland’s early entrance into the market, however, suggests it wants time to talk with developers that could build another tower the firm can anchor. It’s expected to need at least 150,000 to 180,000 square feet, people familiar with the process said. That makes it one of the largest tenants for Midtown building owners and developers to chase.
If only they could talk Dewberry into start developing the corner of 10th and Peachtree right across the street.

What about Daniel Corp's next phase of 12th & Midtown - 1125 Peachtree? It's supposed to be a huge development, and it will happen before Dewberry ever does anything with his plot of land.

715 Peachtree filed their building permit today for a $1.4 million exterior renovation. 11,000sqft new retail, a new plaza, new sidewalks/trees/lighting, and additional screening on the parking deck. This should really improve this important stretch of Peachtree Street.

Old renderings, the DRC recommended they also tear down the existing wall on 3rd street to create a better pedestrian environment:

Google could be expanding its presence in Midtown. For what, though, remains a mystery. Sources tell us Google is in talks for 30k to 50k SF in Midtown Atlanta, with its search centered on either 201 17th St or 217 17th St office towers at Atlantic Station.

The three office space announcements could total greater than 400,000 sq feet. That's a very healthy number for a submarket. Even more exciting is the number of workers these office space announcements could keep in...and add to...the Midtown market.

Maybe these announcements move 98 14th street forward?

That building has been under construction for some time now... I guess they've been doing something else?

The Standard must be the project that killed the Quad, also it looks like the HPC has been redesigned so all the parking is underground.

The Standard's western views will be "interesting" being next door to flex.

I'm not sure if the parking was ever shown above grade, the design seemed ambiguous on that... but please tell me they revised the whole thing, because if not, I'll be rooting for its failure. My reaction to projects usually ranges from excitement to indifference, but I absolutely hate that one. It's a mess of disjointed shapes, its short height and L-shape make it an eclipse-inducing behemoth, and it has absolutely no continuity with the Crum & Forster building.

Compare that to the original, which--while a bit safe--was a respectable, tower-shaped building with a base that blended well with C&F:

I'm not 100% sure, but I think what they're doing already is interior renovation and exterior site prep. This new building permit is to actually do the exterior work. This is so close to the Fox, I imagine a nice restaurant would do really well at this location. And there's the proposal for a residential highrise right across the street.

I wonder if this is the whole lot, will this include the Starbucks location?

True. I live in a four-townhome development and we had the option to bury our power lines while under construction, or not. We had to unanimously decide to do it. Fortunately my neighbors all wanted to do it, but the price was about $100/foot. I definitely think it was worth it in the end, though.
