I've heard it said that surveying activities indicates schematic drawings are being done but I'm no expert.

Now that I think about it, the tallest tower may be the most feasible given that it has the least amount of residential, plus the hotel but the hotel would have to be a luxury flag. I think we are all collectively crossing our fingers on this one.

Surveying only indicates that someone has spent money to survey the site-- It does NOT necessarily mean design has started, though you need a survey to start schematic design in earnest--

And the third tallest in the city - behind Nationsbank and Sunstrust Plaza!

Does surveying usually entail putting white ribbons on trees? I thought that usually means the bulldozers are ready to start clearing.

850 feet tall? Are you serious? Please let this happen. WOW. To get the 3rd tallest building in the city this decade after a slew of 20-30 story high rises would be incredible. It would be a great way to end this development cycle.

This would make a lot of the more skyscraper loving folks on here really happy.

Thanks. Maybe this was said in reference to the specific project being discussed. Or maybe I'm assigning the statement more certainty than intended because I really want to see something tall go up.

I just read Lebowski's post and he did say preliminary work on one of the towers so that would suggest it's still a way to go before there would be any activity on the site I would think. Still it is good to hear that there is some movement on the project.

I hope Related new building doesn't block Novare building view from the connector.

In Atlanta, they will often mark trees as part of the application process...specifically the arborist plan and field review. There were many trees and some other posts spray painted for Eviva as part of their arborist plan review....but that was a long time back. Just another step in the process.

I hear that Integral is having some financing issues at the GM Plant project...a commercial real estate laughed when I brought up Eviva...for what that's worth.

I think Integral should stick with apartment developments in Atlanta. They have yet to pull off construction of a major residential tower in Atlanta. They are great with announcing new projects, but they never seem to come to fruition. Maybe more apartment project, will convince banks to finance their bigger plans in the future.

What's even more embarassing is that on their website, they have Eviva Peachtree as "under construction". http://integral-online.com/atlanta.html

I'm looking forward to the canyon these two buildings are creating at this intersection.

This should be the least of anyone's worries, but FYI the building fronts 14th Street. That means those commuting should not have their views blocked at least not entirely depending on which direction they're traveling and when they take a peak.

I'm excited we're finally seeing swaths of east/west development connectivity in Midtown. 98 14th would nearly seal off 14th street all the way to Piedmont Park other than between Williams and Spring Coming from cities whose residential and commercial options seem endless, it's nice to see a few more options coming to Atlanta's most dense neighborhood. Here's hoping for more local restaurants on every block.

They are under construction with an Eviva tower in Denver I believe.

But Atlantic House's tower is oriented parallel to 14th St and set back behind that darn parking deck. Meanwhile, the new Related tower will be oriented perpendicular to 14th St, effectively shielding Atlantic House tower from the west. Look here:

This shows the Whole Foods and residential tower from 14th and Spring, looking down 14th, with the connector behind you. Atlantic House is directly behind the tower, leaving only its parking deck to be seen from this angle (of course, not depicted in this rendering).

You'd probably see Atlantic House for a split second heading northbound on the connector right before the 14th bridge, but it might be completely hidden coming southbound.

Wish I did. There are still regular meetings happening (MEP, vertical, and structural last week), which means checks are being cut, and the design is progressing.
