I saw someone post a comment on a CBC article that basically stated that they were upset a new city hall is even being considered because we just got a new one, and there was nothing wrong with the old one (the current one) apparently. Well they do say what ever way the majority goes Windsor runs in the opposite direction. lol. I don’t see the problem at all with Francis, in fact I happen to think he is doing a great job. There will always be the ney sayers, but I do think they are few and far between as our last election has shown.

I think the mayor is doing a great job, and I believe the majority of voters do too. It 's just the small minority who make the most noise with their constant whining and slanderous allegations in the comment sections of the Windsor Star and other news sites.

I agree, he is listening to the citizens and trying his best to satisfy everyone, sorry an extra $20million for your stupid roads isn't enough to satisfy some people, the roads in most areas aren't even as bad as they're said to be.

I really hope that the bike trail that is proposed along Cabana isn't just a side lane like this one here bikes barely fit in it and it is very dangerous, especially around trucks.

According to someone on the CPTDB, the new buses we are getting next year are XD40s, which are diesel vehicles (Not electrics, not even hybrid)

Now i think if we are going to discuss the mayor, that would be better suited for "Windsor Talk" so we can keep this thread from becoming to bloated, that way we can use it as a construction archive

Totally random question for you guys, but has there ever been an actual study done on the commuter rate/exchange between Windsor and Metro Detroit either by the local government or the national? I've been looking everywhere for even some estimates as to how many commuters Metro Detroit sends over to Windsor and vice versa, but haven't even found a guess. The U.S. Census Bureau has estimates for commuter exchanges between counties, but I haven't seen anything for Windsor or Essex County.

There are around 5000 Windsorites that work in the health field in the Detroit area, plus quite a few more that commute to other jobs, such as the Big 3 office jobs and many in the IT sector in the region. As well, there are many Windsorites that commute to schools in the Detroit area. I'm not sure about how many Americans commute to Windsor for work though.

Yeah, I heard it was somewhere around 3 or 4% of the work force in Windsor commute to Michigan for work. The majority of them are nurses.

People hate Eddie because he actually had the guts to take on the unions (no other mayor in our history has ever done that). The ones that hate him are the loud-mouthed union thumper windbags but there are far more people that support him than hate him.

It's remarkable that we've had no tax increases for 5 years and we've been able to pay down the debt while spending for all of these new infrastructure projects....all while the city population and tax base has actually declined! It's just incredible when you think about it.

I feel the same, And I think the majority of tax payers do also. The Eddie haters are so ridiculous in their constant attacks on him, that they make themselves look like fools, especially that Gabriel Maggio and his fucking crazy wife who are some of the worst offenders in the Windsor Star comment sections!

I don't even read the comment sections of the star any more because i always feel compelled to argue with these people. Some people have the idea that a city with a massive loss of tax income should be spending MORE money on roads that are barely used and less on the overloaded buses and deficient sidewalks. These same people also probably think that although $millions have left the city, all the workers should be entitled to a raise. I'm not hating on city employees, but that strike was BS and they know it.

Onto another matter, there will be 4 new buses hitting windsor's streets this fall. These buses will be XD40s (See image) They are the non-hybrid versions of our 2011 buses. (I found this image on so many sites, i don't know who to credit)
services are also being increased in september from 15 to 10 mins on the 1C and CT2

Hopefully all this investment from the city into infrastructure really pays off and we see some more investment from the private sector in the form of new businesses and high rises downtown.

Improving 1C & CT2 to 10 minute intervals from 15 is a HUGE improvement in my opinion. Definitely a good start.

He's a nobody and has no name recognition. The same people that voted for Limoges will vote for him but that's about it. At least Limoges had name recognition though. If Francis decides not to run then I think the top candidates would be Gignac and Dilkens. Maybe Pupatello although she claims she's not interested.

You can totally tell that's where this guy is heading. He came out of NOWHERE suddenly with his attack dog for a wife. There's 2 years to go and it seems he's unofficially campaigning now. I think at some point they said they run some sort of immigration legal aid office.

Any improvement to any other route schedules? I grew up in South Windsor and before I had my first car, I had to deal with the Dougall 6 which runs every 40-60 Minutes. I lived just off Norfolk. If I wanted to go to the Devonshire Mall, I had to take the Dougall 6 all the way downtown, get a transfer to the 1A to come all the way back to South Windsor to the Mall. Bus travel became such a pain in the ass that I banished it from my life. My wife and I are a 2 car household and the only time we even consider taking the bus is if we are going drinking downtown and don't want to worry about the possibility of getting a DUI.

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't rode a bus in over 15 years. I was just mentioning what I had read in another article and those were the only 2 routes that they mentioned.

I would love to see the busses run later. Esspecialy on holidays.

I Drive now, but it use to drive me nutts when I worked on a holiday and could not get there.
