Having density surrounding transit stations is a great concept, but you can't take this out of the context that is Perimeter. Most people will be in cars and the area is truly a mess that shouldn't exist.

I agree. Unless people live along the Red line, I doubt they will be riding MARTA there. In cities with comprehensive train lines, people are more willing to ride around and transfer between lines etc. But people here are not as willing to do it. And it makes sense. Who would ride from Doraville, down to Lindbergh, and up to Dunwoody taking over an hour when they can drive and likely get there quicker. I've lived/worked in Midtown for years and in my experience, even people who live/work near stations won't use MARTA unless it consistently saves them time, or money from paying to park. But at $95 for a monthly pass, only a few places charge more for monthly parking that I know of so why would somebody spend more time and money to travel? For the record, I am not supporting driving everywhere and killing transit and high density TOD. But it should be designed correctly and consistent with a citywide plan. Something of which many areas of Atlanta lack.
So in essence, this new development will likely have minimal reductions in vehicle trips due to the adjacent MARTA station and I can understand people in perimeter not wanting more density since the infrastructure is not built to handle it.
