Nice! I would love if he got his big box stores out of the way and can now focus on developments that are good for the city. He could start to rebrand how so many constituents perceives his projects if we start to see rapid improvements, which he can afford to do.

Pollack Shores Eyes Former Midtown Kountry Kitchen Site

Prolific Atlanta apartment developer Pollack Shores is eyeing the former Bobby & June's Kountry Kitchen site for a new mixed-use project. Details on its plans were not disclosed in initial permit filings, and calls to Pollack Shores were not returned as of press time.

That always makes me think of South Park...

I guess that strip mall expansion fell through. Probably for the best. With the size of the lot they must have something pretty small in mind... I don't think they would be able to put a tower there.

I think that was mostly for marketing purposes to sell the site rather than actually redevelop the site as-is.

I grew up in Cobb County. I'd hardly hold it up as an example of what's great about Atlanta. Unless sprawl, strip malls and soul crushing traffic is your groove.

I agree you are hear hearing a about at lot of developments occurring in this area. However, the only major corporate relocations to this area that I am aware of is Comcast and Aaron Rents. Meanwhile, you hear almost weekly about corporate relocations to Midtown, Buckhead and the Perimeter.

They are a lot larger than Cumberland though. I find Cumberland easier to get around, but that's going to change unfortunately.

Permit to consolidate lots was filed for this property, the JPX property:

The BP at Lindbergh and Cheshire also filed a permit to consolidate lots, maybe a redevelopment there on the horizon?

BoA tower is being sold to Shorenstein Properties. They will invest immediately in lobby and amenity enhancements. Mentions additional upgrades as well, but no specifics on anything like improving the street presence.

I agree. Unless people live along the Red line, I doubt they will be riding MARTA there. In cities with comprehensive train lines, people are more willing to ride around and transfer between lines etc. But people here are not as willing to do it. And it makes sense. Who would ride from Doraville, down to Lindbergh, and up to Dunwoody taking over an hour when they can drive and likely get there quicker. I've lived/worked in Midtown for years and in my experience, even people who live/work near stations won't use MARTA unless it consistently saves them time, or money from paying to park. But at $95 for a monthly pass, only a few places charge more for monthly parking that I know of so why would somebody spend more time and money to travel? For the record, I am not supporting driving everywhere and killing transit and high density TOD. But it should be designed correctly and consistent with a citywide plan. Something of which many areas of Atlanta lack.

So in essence, this new development will likely have minimal reductions in vehicle trips due to the adjacent MARTA station and I can understand people in perimeter not wanting more density since the infrastructure is not built to handle it.

Also, glad to hear about Club NV/Quad being replaced by student apartments. Maybe now they can reopen the tunnel to connect with Tech.

That statement is coming from a place of privilege. A lot of people have trips like this. There are a large number of low-paying jobs associated with developments like this, so there are plenty of people who can't afford a car (or can't afford a second car) but still need to get to these locations. Go to Lindbergh Station during rush hour and you'll get a good idea of just how many people are transferring.

Besides, even if people weren't willing to transfer, the red line includes buckhead, midtown, downtown, west end, east point, and the airport. That's a huge number of people who can go straight to Sandy Springs without transferring.

7th Street Two-way Conversion - The Connect Atlanta Plan calls for 7th Street to be converted to two-way traffic between West Peachtree St. and Piedmont Ave. Design plans have been permitted and construction awarded. Contractors will mobilize in January to complete the full conversion, including traffic signals, signage, and re-striping by April 2016.

GWCC seeks 135,000 square foot expansion.

State officials are seeking architects for a roughly $50 million project that could add up to 135,000 square feet of exhibition space to the Georgia World Congress Center. The project would connect the “B” and “C” buildings of the convention center, which could help lure some of the country’s largest events and meetings — especially those that need around 1 million square feet of contiguous space. An architect could be selected in mid-February. But, the project still has to get state approval for funding.

RobMidtowner - The only way only way to avoid traffic congestion is a growing, dynamic city is to get out of your car.

You may not see the value in transit, but developers, businesses, and many other people do.

The impact is not "minimal" especially in the long term.
