When I worked for Workday a couple of years ago at the Ravina nobody paid to park.

That sounds accurate. I work at Ravinia and there is no paying to park except for visitors. People work where they can get a job for the most part or for other reasons with the same outcome and end up in perimeter. Perimeter should not a be a jobs center, let alone one that rivals downtown. It inherently is not urban or smart. Yeah it has MARTA, but thousands of people live in areas not accessible to MARTA and living near MARTA isn't practical for many people.

This is the latest in a string of projects bringing many more workers to Perimeter without addressing issues for the already over capacity roads.

Rather than work on those issues, the powers that be, ignore it and blindly build.

I get your point, but it will have to get worse before it gets better. Eventually when Gwinett and Cobb realize they are losing jobs to Midtown, Buckhead, Dowtown and the Perimeter because they have access to MARTA, they will finally decide to make the investment in mass transit.

They started taking the tower cranes down at 5th and Peachtree today. It's a long way from done, though.

Well said. I don't know how many more large corporations have to come out and say "We chose site xyz because of yaddah yaddah and access to Marta rail", until they finally realize its value. The writing is clearly on the wall. Heck, even Mercedes Benz, an auto manufacturer, wanted to be located near Marta rail.

Cobb is thriving without MARTA. They have a number of office towers proposed and under construction now, and many residential projects as well. The idea that they're heading for disaster because of traffic congestion is a shining example of "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

Hopefully they've revolutionized sound-proof windows.

Otherwise, glad to see some "Aerotropolis" development.

Powers Ferry Square's Shell Gas station is being redeveloped into a 3 story gas station. Including a possible street level BMW showroom, Dunkin Donuts, and Subway. Will have underground parking and 2nd and 3rd levels will be offices.

How the hell are they going to put all of that on a 1/2 acre lot. That gas station is already hard to get in and out of.

Quad in Midtown is moving to somewhere along i20 because landlord bought out lease, and property is redeveloping into a mixed-use 300 dorm student tower with street level retail. It says it will open next summer too. I'm assuming Summer 2017 so it probably will be hitting drc in the coming months.

I think it's about how intensively you want to develop. In NYC they might put a couple of 1,000 footers on a half acre lot!

I don't think a tower would be finished next summer if it had already started, and there would be demolition to do beforehand. Do they mean it will start construction next year?

The Fuqua project at 905 Memorial just filed for rezoning to MRC-3/BL (Mixed residential and commercial, maximum floor area ratio of 7.2).

I'm a little terrified at what this might end up being. Here's hoping for the best...

Please let it be an actual urban walkable project like his Morningside apartment building. The only thing I like about Fuqua is that he doesn't play around when it comes to actually moving dirt and setting up cranes.

Cool. Now if we can only get rid of that monstrosity of a parking deck that borders Spring between 3rd & 4th. That would be a nice stretch of urbanity when GT HPCC gets built. At that point, we'll only have Cheetah lot, and the NE corner of Spring & 5th that is not built up.

Don't forget the massive parking lot for Varsity that only seems to be adequately in use for tailgaters to tech games.

A ray of hope is that MCR-3/BL is pretty much the best zoning request they could have made. It allows for mixed use at the most dense level (7.2), and would have to follow the beltline overlay rules. Just for comparison, the big Fuqua project under construction with the Kroger and surface lot is zoned for a maximum floor area ratio of 3.2.

That's precisely my least favorite thing about him
