It seems over the last month West Jet has moved a large majority or its regional flights to the B pier( mostly gates B23-25 some biridged gates . Is there smoe work being done in the A pier?
Great news about SQ, a real win and positive sign that they decided to make this year-round.
The B-pier (after the A_B connector) is crap, it is the only part of the original airport still essentially untouched. A-pier is newish, I can't understand why they would be doing anything to A-pier and relocating to B, it should be the other way around?

Maybe, I guess that could be? I thought the old end of the B-pier was basically being decomissioned. I really hope they reno it to bring it to the same design standard as literally every other part of the airport except there, inside and out.
Today's selection of international flights is pretty diverse, esp. considering COVID and everything. 23 flights, and many of them normal long haul flights, not sun destinations. 1x flight unless otherwise noted:

Does anyone know if there are any documents proposing a 2nd platform for YVR Station. I saw it mentioned on an RM Transit YouTube video and I don't think I'd ever heard that was something under consideration.
Spanish Solution at a Single track terminus station seems strange to me... Would you encourage those boarding leaving YVR to board on the South side of the train... leaving the North side for people going to the Airport?
Another question. In the 2037 Master plan for YVR, they opted to extend the terminal from the center (Pier E). Does this also mean a 2nd station at YVR (that would have served an expanded Eastern Terminal) won't be going ahead? Or is there still plans to eventually construct another station on the YVR branch of the Canada line?

The 2037 plan only mentions increased platform passenger capacity.

They key advantage of moving Q400 flights from A to B is that they can put them on real gates with enclosed bridges. The A pier gates they use for the Q400 all involve walking out into the elements.
I never understood why WS did not use bridges for their Q400 in YVR and YYC. They do in other airports such as Saskatoon where nearly every flight is on a bridge.
YVR just renovated the A-pier as well, with WS Encore in mind. The old B-pier would be good as WS Encore's area, I Just wish they would reno it to make it look decent inside/out. The AB pier is so nice and consistent with ITB standards. C-Pier isn't the best, but most parts of it have been renovated/new.expanded. The old end of the B-pier is untouched inside and out, at least do somrthing to bring it to the rest of terminal standards. When I worked at the airport, we hated working down at that end, it was so offputting compared to the rest of YVR. They should've done some reno before shifting all the flights there

Currently the walk-up gates are the only ones not in use in YYC. Currently 1-6, and the bus gates 61-65 aren't used. Gate 38 is walk-up but barely used.

Icelandair returns to KEF
Condor is back with flights to FRA
Edelweiss returns to ZRH
JetBlue starting two new routes to BOS and JFK
Aeromexico expanding to three daily to MEX
Air France expanding to daily CDG on newer Dreamliners
British Airways bringing back the A380
Certainly leading the way in Western Canada for new airlines and routes.
All in all not too bad!

An Austrian couple of police officers overpowered a passenger on their vacation flight from Frankfurt to Vancouver. As announced by the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna , the passenger had made threats two hours after take-off last Wednesday and thus endangered security on board. The ministry did not want to give details about the man because of the jurisdiction of the Canadian authorities....

... personally, this one is special for me. A bit like the return of an old friend, back after decades of absence. Qantas was one of the first foreign carriers at YVR.

Yes, especially when you consider in boarding it is not uncommon to have a long line of people all the way up the bridge waiting to enter the aircraft if something gets held up on the aircraft.
If that happened during boarding it could have resulted in significant injuries.
