Not the only one, love the density and seems modern - very happy not all precast concrete skin. And this has been a dead zone for my entire lifetime.

I like it - even if the actual finished construction falls a bit short of the render.

They've closed Jackson between James and Hughson, and have placed concrete traffic blocks along the south side of Jackson. Looks like they'll finally put up the construction hoarding this week.

There is also an excavator on site. I'd say we can change the title of this thread to "Under Construction".

Man, if the Connolly wasn't such a shit show - that would be one hell of an intersection.

I'm really hoping that once this development starts going up, Hue Developments gets their ass in gear and reboots that one already. They claim the project is still active behind the scenes.

Its G+C. They never do anything great. It may end up ok by Hamilton standards, but Television City (if it ever happens) and 1 Jarvis / 41 Wilson will likely look a world better.

I can say as one that lives right next door to the CHCH former spaceship building, that it has seen much action in the past 2 to 3 weeks. Work of digging, in many spots with the soil sampler machine, but they spent a lot of time in many spots, and have also seen work trucks in the back parking lot with men in hats pointing and looking at, most likely ledgers of construction plans.

So it may seem like this thing is already tracking in a good direction as of now, but time will tell.

It is quite bulky, but much improved from the early renders.

I have hopes it will be a decent addition to the core.

Construction hoarding is up on Jackson Street, as well as a vehicle site entrance at Jackson and Hughson. Nice to see this one finally get started.

Shit is really pumpin these days! In a month we could be seeing cranes all over downtown especially going into the off season so to speak for construction.
Everything's coming up Milhouse!!

By my count downtown has 5 cranes right now, and that could increase to 8-10 next year.

Current:

Platinum - 1
Cobalt - 2
368 King - 2

Soon / next year:
Cobalt - 2
368 King - 1 (hotel crane will likely be removed fairly quickly)
McMaster Graduate Residence - 2
75 James S - 1 or 2
1 Jarvis - 1 or 2

Platinum will likely be removed though in the next 1-3 months. I suspect in the next month since occupancy is December from what I recall and they're pretty much done the exterior. Haven't seen the crane do any work in the last couple weeks.

Good news. The Planning Committee defeated the staff recommendation to appeal the Committee of Adjustment decision that granted the proposal increased height - so it should be able to go forward - and the escarpment height limit will retain an important mark against it.

Vote for ending the appeal was 5 for (Farr, Partridge, Pearson, Danko, Ferguson), 1 abstention (Wilson), 2 absent (Johnson, Collins - not sure why he's still on their list of committee members, but he is).

I would guess it just needs council's ratification.
(has Collins been sworn in as an MP yet? Maybe he will not have "officially" vacated his council seat until then, or until it's filled by someone else)

Now we get to see what the market bears. I'm going to wager we see some proposals that are similar height to those in Kitchener, at least for a while -- 40-45 storeys at the tallest, with many more in the 25 to 35 range.

I can see a whole slew of proposals creep another 5-10 floors . Wondering whats going on with the Bentall Green Oak development on Main W - that one for sure , clustered in all that density could for sure make a case. And with it being rental, that is a big dent in housing chasm
