That is the parking garage - starting at the 2nd floor. It will be covered by some sort of architectural metal, I believe

I have it and it's a great book. A lot of good city history, and pictures of many of the oldest buildings in Saskatoon.

The great thing about it is that the closer you get the weirder it looks

photos like this perhaps best capture "we intend to fully renovate, but right now we have workers racing around on the scaffolding." thank god some posters have faith it's going to happen. lots and lots of work to do. i bet those workers know it too...

Just a quick plug... The Blades have beaten P.A. 2-1 in OT tonight and win their best of 7 series 4-2. They will be hosting either Kootenay/Brandon on Friday and Saturday next week.

Over 10,000 fans packed the CUC to watch the Blades beat P.A. on Saturday night, and It'd be great if Saskatoon can pack in even more on Friday/Saturday! Personally, I'd like to see the Blades sell the CUC out, but we'll see.

Grab a few friends, buy some tickets and head out to the game! It's gonna be wild.

Go Blades!

(Oh, and count me in as happy that the ugly house on top of the University Bridge is going. I remember sitting in the car as a kid wondering why we had such ugly houses in such an awesome place.)

Isn't that normal? Isn't the top "floor" really the rooftop mechanical level that includes the elevator mechanical room? This necessarily has to be one level above the highest level the elevator travels.

Does the elevator open on the other side?

However, now looking at the rendering, it seems the concrete stairwells and elevator shaft do go up higher than the rest of the building itself. So maybe there is no elevator to the roof, but the stairwell does seem to access the roof.

exactly what I think every time I see that rendering! The boxy shape comes straight from from the 60's, the 70's bring about the aluminum and glass curtain wall in the upper two levels, the windowless parking level with "louvres" is the 80's contribution, and 1990's top it off with the rooftop "canopy" feature.

I do enjoy the giant tree to the left in the rendering, look at that mighty shadow it is casting on the building. Planting redwoods in the downtown, part of the new plan? now that would be cool

The stairwells access the main roof, but keep in mind that there's a floor of penthouse suites up there. The penthouse level has a smaller floor plate than the floors below and doesn't really show up in the rendering. Only the airfoil-type roof of the penthouse level is visible in the rendering. Pretty sure they'll want elevator access to those suites, as well.
