I did think Air China and China Eastern were operating pax flights once per week but hard to tell these days. In any event they are still flying to YVR regularly. China Southern also operating cargo only flights on top of the weekly A380 flight from CAN.
Forgot to mention Air Canada also operating plenty of cargo only flights as well.

China Eastern was operating pax flights but since temporarily suspended services until the end of October. China Southerns will also be temporarily suspending pax services as well at the end of this month until the end of October.

I know this might be more on the fantasy side of things, but I do hope that once we get through this pandemic we can see some new routes at YVR. Having destinations such as Singapore, Rome, Barcelona, Sao Paulo, Papeete, etc would be really nice additions to YVR. Though I doubt we would have enough pax to support some of these destinations daily / year round, but as seasonal flights they might do well.

The only place I see Sarajevo ever working from is maybe YYZ on AT or AC at 1 or 2 weekly in July and August.

Yes, totally. But YVR could benefit from that with connecting traffic. The presenc of the former Yugoslavia is quite marked here and would feed into that air market.

MU currently does not operate passenger flights to YVR
MF operate 1x weekly XMN
CA operate 1x weekly from PEK, and to CGO

Due to capacity limitation, many of the Chinese airlines uses some kind of queue system at least in the peak periods, so you may not able to see the flights on Google Flights.

Yes, Sarajevo airport wants Canada flights. However, did you see the O&D numbers to YYZ, YUL and YVR in that article? Abysmal.

It's not gonna happen. Certainly not before places like Belgrade or Croatia get service, both of which have higher O&D to Canada.

Fair. I would assume that there would have to be well-timed connections from all over the US to YYZ on AC to help make it work.

My parents just booked flights to come see us on an urgent matter and the only one-stop options between Helsinki and Vancouver were being Lufthansa and KLM. They ended up booking to fly through Amsterdam.

Even then the paperwork and trouble of flying is currently very cumbersome even for double-vaccinated people.

AC back to a decent amount of domestic widebody flying too.

11-12 per day to YYZ, YUL and YOW on 788s, 789s, 333s and 77Ws
YVR-YOW seeing a daily 788

With the international flights and the cargo only flights plenty of AC heavy metal filling the skies over YVR.

Also 3U Sichuan Airlines ✈️ is still flying passengers/ cargo 1x weekly currently between Chengdu China and Vancouver Canada, with Arrivals Tuesdays and Departures Wednesdays on A350.

If not the A380, which is semingly used in the high season, when there's a lot of traffic, then what about the 777? They seem to have supplanted the 747 on many routes.

It currently looks like BA has the Boeing 777 scheduled for Vancouver from September 7 to end of February 2022 and they have their Airbus A350 -1000 flying it starting March 1st 2022

Currently B777 for the winter and A350 for the summer.

Interestingly enough, September is currently scheduled with 9-10x weekly flights, and BA86/87 is making a comeback...

Oh wow, that would be our first A350-1000, right? That will be a cool plane to see. I haven't even seen a 1000 variant yet.

Yes it would be and but BA has now pushed back the A350-1000 for Vancouver to March 2022. The Boeing 777 will be operating through most of this upcoming fall/Winter.

Yep 👍,from September 7-25 BA has 2 daily flights between London,UK and Vancouver.

Would they be using the 777-200ER or 777-300ER for those flights ?
