It was the biggest donation in history or something like that.

The tone at the time was that the Winnipeg Foundation is not a land developer. So don't expect them to continue on with whatever plans Edison may have had.

But at the same time, Edison Properties IS into land development. So it would make sense for them to continue on. We'll see I guess.

I understand Winnipeg Foundation not wanting to be a landlord/property developer. Maybe they could donate the properties to various non-profit housing organizations.

I assumed Winnipeg Foundation would sell either Edison as a whole or its properties individually, and then use the proceeds for whatever charitable causes they wish.

Damn you guys are fast, was going to post this project later today haha. It's a nice building and a good location. Hopefully the first of many new apartment buildings on Archibald.

Agreed, it’s nice to see Archibald slowly but surely getting built up.

As for Edison, I think part of the deal when the Winnipeg foundation took ownership was that the business not be broken up. Of course that doesn’t mean they will continue developing new properties, though I hope they do. Based on TWF’s annual reporting it look like edison will continue to operate as it did before with the foundation using the dividends to support whatever causes it sees fit.

The old grain facility at Provencher and Archibald seems to be an expansion of the storage place. Maybe just a gravel lot for now as they are placing gravel over geotextile starting at the east end.

Can't remember if anyone confirmed that, But it's storage branded vehicles parked on the lot and 2 workers spreading the gravel in rented equipment.

But they are not doing work on the full lot north to Mission. If they did buy all the Central Grain Property that will give them a really large in city storage compound. Is there really that much demand for storage in Winnipeg?

Sorry I meant started from the south end right next to where the storage building currently is.

You're right though, is a big lot. I'd assume they plan to expand the storage buildings at some point. But for now it seems like a gravel lot where they store campers and other larger vehicles in an outdoor setting.

Those storage places seem to be busy. I personally have never used one but am thinking about it for my house move. Not cheap.

There must be money in the storage locker business. The one on Munroe east of Watt St. had one if not two previous owners before Access Storage signs went up on the lot.

Access Storage has 10 sites in Winnipeg according to their website and they are not the only storage company.
