They wanted to start construction in January right? Don't they need to go through all of the permitting process? Haven't heard any news on that front, maybe I'm just out of the loop.

It's going on Ivan Allen across from the GA Aquarium parking deck between McAfee and Venable Streets

Driving into work today, I noticed that the AMLI Arts Center parking lot has been coned off! There were only a couple of cars in the usually-full parking lot. Is work about to start?

(Sorry if this is old news, I had been out of town all last week and Monday).

They were also still planning to go to the DRC one more time for a follow-up. I would assume they will be in Octobers DRC if they want to start Early 2016.

Also I know that at least in September they were still designing the interior space because we had a survey about amenities early in September. Questions about types of amenities/restaurants/retail we wanted to see.

Cousins, which is developing the $200 million first phase of the NCR project at 8th and Spring streets, plans to break ground in December. Duda Paine Architects, the same firm that designed the Terminus buildings in Buckhead, is working on the NCR Midtown project.

I really like it and I think it is appropriately scaled for the area. The base really looks incredible. Great addition to Midtown.

Renders of planned bridge into Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Renderings show a serpentine structure made up of a 105-foot bridge with two 400-foot ramps at either end. The bridge will cross Northside Drive and connect the stadium to the Vine City MARTA station. The bridge is one component of a larger vision to leverage the location of the stadium to rail transit and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment between Westside communities and the Georgia World Congress Center.Representatives from 17 construction firms attended a Sept. 16 meeting with the city to hear more about the proposed bridge. A site visit was held on Oct. 1. Builders must submit their proposals by Oct. 30.

Broadstone Terraces

It hasn't been noted yet but Broadstone Terraces crane went up today. Looks like their parking underground is about 3 levels.

I'm pretty sure the actual bridge will look nothing like this (and I hope it doesn't). They're seeking proposals for the design and cost. This is just a concept design.

Looks like a Calatrava knock-off.

I agree - I'm glad they are trying! imo the bridge itself is interesting, but it doesn't seem to have ANY relationship design-wise with the stadium - no common color, texture, material, shape. That said, I hope and think it might end up being nice.

Recently federal funds ($30 million as I recall) were made available for "sanierung/sanering" of that nearby drug-infested area known as "The Bluffs". I believe private money will be involved. It could be a big deal. As a libertarian I support the idea of open and transparent public-private initiatives. I'd like to see this walkway design simplified (shorten the walkover by taking out unnecessary loops) and also maybe tied into the neighborhood redevelopment plan as well.

Huff rd. project

It appears that the project on Huff Rd (next to the reservoir) is starting to move forward.

It's likely the loops are necessary to make it ADA compliant. It can't ascend too steeply, so the length is probably appropriate. I doubt they would make it longer than it needs to be.

An elevator would be cheaper.

Probably not. They're expensive, you have to maintain, and unless you want people ruining them, you have to properly monitor them. While I'd much prefer people just using the street grid and not having to feel like they need to take a bridge to cross a road, I'd much prefer something elegant and relatively simple like this proposal as opposed to a utilitarian eyesore.
