Hamilton, Ontario

The gaps on each side of the central cluster will get filled over the next 10-20 years. 5 or so 25-30 storey towers currenly under construction and 20+ in the planning department.

This may be the first post... ever... with this particular angle of Hamilton's downtown.

The mists of change are a-swirlin'...

Amazing photos of Hamilton and Calgary on this page. Hamilton looks like a neighborhood from
Blade Runner (sort of). Calgary looks like midtown Manhattan (sort of).

I rarely see photos from this angle too. It's from James St N looking towards the Mountain (Escaprment)

If the camera was panned about 120+ degrees left (in the first photo) you'd be able to see flaming belches akin to that opening scene of Blade Runner.

"Midtown Manhattan"

Your dog looks adorable, I'm sure she's happy to come along for walks. What's her name?

It seems there is a certain clarity to the air in Vancouver that isn't present in other parts of the country. It just seems clearer (or maybe that's the camera?).

There is just nothing like those neighbourhoods anywhere else in Canada (except QC!). It is a certain type of flattop, redbrick, first-wave North American urbanity. It's Gotham. It's Sesame Street.

It's "the city" for all of us born on that continent. And I mean, sure, you could say that it's just one type of thing, that there are many representative district-styles, that this form enjoys undue prominence because of the media and culture organs of New York City...

...but its still to our thing what the wedding cake blocks are to things over here.

Note that it was Pavlov that claimed the "midtown Manhattan", not Chad.

It has been raining a lot (being winter after all) so the air is really clear when the sun comes out. Wasn't really the case during the forest fire season.
