Metra did actually just announce schedule increases for 3 lines, including UP-N.

https://metra.com/newsroom/metra-exp...eekend-service

Also for BNSF and UP-W.

Crain's also mentions there'll be 3,273 units, 350k sqft of office, 435k sqft of retail, 250k sqft for hotel, and 12 acres of park space. That's basically the same amount of residential density Sterling Bay proposed for the northern site (3500 units). To clear up any confusion, this will still be one of the densest areas of the city with over 100k ppl/sq mi!

^ Wow. If JDL wants the same kind of residential density on the site, they need to be more proactive about the infrastructure.

This is great news, but it's not even close to what we need for Metra to truly serve as rapid transit for in-city neighborhoods. Weekend trains will now run hourly on a clockface schedule, but still with 2-hour gaps in the afternoon and evening.

Wow, I'm surprised they are still planning for that much office space. Granted, its not the millions of square feet that SB was planning on, but still more than I would have thought.

Agreed - I'm surprised ANY office space is being offered here.

Last night's 32nd ward meeting included information about Foundry Park. The unit count they gave at last night's meeting was "a maximum of probably" 2,800 units, while the one they gave to developers last month as 3,300. Seems the unit count is still fluctuating

Looks like Foundry Park will very much be a highrise neighborhood with some lowrises and midrises, according to the overall site plan. The article includes more detailed photos of the site plan, such as showing bike lanes and a potential 606 extension.

Site A:
28 townhomes

Site B:
19 SFHs

Site C:
12, 20, & 25 floors

Site D:
11, 13, 8, & 38 floors

Site E:
30, 7, 23, 20, 5, & 9 floors

Site F:
12 & 35 floors

This looks pretty solid, and SUPER happy to see there's a plan to bring the 606 trail over the river. That's gonna be amazing connecting the two neighborhoods.

I think this is a great pivot, and happy that it’s a balanced mixed of high, mid, low-rise of various densities. Wild seeing SFMs along the north bank of the River, but I’m sure those will be special because they’re unique.

Urbanize has the first renderings I've seen for Foundry Park posted this morning.

I like this plan a lot. My only real criticism is the removal of the Dominick bridge. This will put a lot of stress on Courtland, which is already pretty dysfunctional.

HPA always does these simple and stylized initial renders to better show 3D massing before releasing full renders as the project design develops. They’re simple but somewhat elegant…almost like art you would find on Etsy.

Should the thread title be updated to Foundry Park?

That's correct. Off topic, but the most recent example of this I recall is HPA's preliminary plan for 1200 W. Fulton:

Sterling Bay still controls the south part of the development (for now) so the Lincoln Yards name is not completely dead.

I really like the massing, the tight inner density that steps down to the river. But I don't understand the Elson realignment. It moves traffic closer to the river through what should be a quiet street. Farther from the Clyborn station. How is that an improvement? What is the goal?

This could be a temporary reroute to allow the total tear down and rebuild of the Ashland under pass which will need to be lowered to accommodate the 606 bridge. That whole intersection will get major work to accommodate the new Metra station location as well.
