Dundas Square is one of the tackiest places in Canada. I don't think we need anything like that.
Tell that to someone from Toronto. They act as if it were the Times Square of Canada.

There's no microsoft store in pacific centre, right? I wonder if one of the tenants below will be a microsoft shop.
If you need your night livened up by digital signage blasting ads.. maybe you need to think about doing something else.

Joat didn't say 'blasting' ads, please don't exaggerate. Being critical of his preference of urban light fixtures is as insulting as saying that if you don't like city lights, you should just stay in your dark bedroom in your cottage up in the mountains. I do agree with him that a few light features will enliven that vibrant retail neighbourhood, especially since it's the ONLY ONE of the kind we got in ALL of Vancouver.

I like what was done with Old Navy but I don't see how just plopping some digital signage on the PC reno really adds to or complements the design. If presented with a thoughtful and innovative approach, my opinion is open to change, however.

Maybe some cascading, artistically-placed, white LED aspects on the sunshade fins? I don't know.

The only thing I could see looking okay would be if the second skin at Robson & Granville was floodlit from witin at night with changing colours (maybe the Microsoft colours).

May I second that, please. Subtle lighting idea.

Pic by me today.
They seem to have managed to avoid the assymmetrical narrow strip window present in the office facade above.
(It would also be amazing if the light blue spandels at all of the entrances were backlit with LEDs,
in an homage to the old backlit spandrels that were on Eatons - but I guess that's unlikely)

I disagree - it looks obvious that there is a bracket where a narrow strip window will be added just like in the office facade above. Check back in a few days and I think your worst fears will be realized.

I saw that - BUT - there's one on the other side too, so at least it'll be symmetrical (hopefully).

EDIT - you could be right. The bit on the west side could be for a full panel.

The rotunda entrance cladding is consistent with the rest of the Nordstrom cladding:

A "selvage" panel (as in postage stamps) also appears on Telus Garden:

There will be Microsoft Branding on the tower portion of the development. Nordstrom will brand the lower 1/3rd and Microsoft the upper 2/3 office portion. It should look pretty sharp.

Now that I think about it we might need to name this building little Seattle

Saw it today - yup - skinny pane installed on left, wide space on right.
Ugh.

I take interest in your posts on this, but 10,000 km away makes it difficult to drop down and have a look around.
(you get what I mean) Anyway, could I ask you to explain to me briefly, if you might, which glass panels you are talking about on which side, and why they are "ugh" as you say.
Also, is there an issue with night lighting here, or something? Or is that another issue? Thank you for your understanding.

I can't remember if this was posted already, but apparently there are a lot of high end stores moving into the building, fendi, Prada etc. That could also have come from someone in an orange vest though lol.

You mean in the future Nordstrom? If that is so, wouldn't be surprised. You build the facility, and there will always be demand for the high end boutiques.

Nice, thanks.
Glad they stuck with the randomized tile size and pattern.
And from above, it looks like the curtain wall on the Howe side has reached the roof.
