Not sure if you were thinking of this directly replacing the Ballpark itself. It is not. It is actually replacing the dingy Main Street hotel.

Yes, Thankyou Rds70 for that update. Also, a big shout-out to our photog extraordinaire Paniolo Man. What a great update! Many projects we haven't seen since their announcements almost two or more years ago.

Main street Tower Apartments

As I noted on this thread a few weeks ago, I had heard that the funding for the MainStreet apartment Tower had been stopped.

Does anybody out there have any updated info on this ? Has the funding been stopped on temporarily or has the project been cancelled?

That said, an urban campus also has more of an opportunity for vertical growth that typically isn’t necessary on larger campuses.
Or my alma mater, Utah's own, UVU 228 acres w/ ~40k enrollment.

It looks like they might build a Jack In the Box at the site of the old Burger King at State Street and 2100 South.
Originally, an In N' Out was supposed to go in at that location but those plans fell through.

Not the type of development we usually get excited about but Jack In the Box hasn't been in this area for a long time so I figure it's worthy of mention.

The U of U has ~25,000 undergrads, and takes up over a thousand acres. Ensign college would have 40% of the U's student population, but all crammed just 30 acres (or less!). Is that even feasible?
I think 10,000 college students downtown, right next to Temple Square, would do wonders for making downtown more vibrant, even if they are proudly stone-cold sober
I believe the article is predicting 10,000 online students unless I am missing something. The numbers they cite are for current and projected BYU Pathway (online) courses. Maybe the facilities would need to be expanded to accommodate becoming a large online university but have they mentioned expanding local classes recently? I would love to see it but it seems like they are focused elsewhere

“Over time, in the not too distant future, Ensign College will be providing education to many more students on a global basis than will ever come to our campus in Salt Lake City,” President Kusch said of the school’s trajectory.

School administration projects that BYU-Pathway students enrolled in Ensign College courses for the fall will be 2,500 to 2,600 students. “Several years from now, that could be 10,000 students on a semesterly basis. The reach of the school will be much more global in the years to come, as more and more members of the Church around the world are participating in online education.

I’d take Jack in the Box over In-N-Out any day.

Salt Lake should have two Jack in the Box restaurant locations, one serving tepid hamburgers and the other is where you go to meet your meth dealer, just like all great cities.

And then an in-n-out within city limits, so you can get food afterwards

You're probably right that the 10,000 refers to online enrolments. There isn't any way that the college's facilities could be scaled up to meet that number 'several years from now', especially since construction couldn't even start until after the Temple Square reconstruction projects are finished 'several years from now'.

Still, I hope they expand the college at that location. Online work/education has its place, but IMO it does not adequately replace the in-person work/education experience, especially with the extra goals the church has for its schools. In either case, having a college filled with students from around the world is a much better statement for the church to make with its headquarters than a sprawling, corporate-feeling mega-complex (like was pictured earlier). Just my

Utahns, who spend a lot of energy shitting on California every chance they get, sure do get upset when someone shits on their state lmao

Interesting enough, none of what is in those ads really appeals to me. I'm not a big skier and I've never rock climbed.

I grew up in Utah. I live in California.

Both states have their pluses and minuses. Neither is a bad place. People in California aren't that different than Utah, and vice versa.

Life is nuance. Life is subtle. And that's a lot more boring than the "all or nothing" hyperbole that frequently dominates cable news, sports news, and social media.
