Typo? Wall bought two condos in the Wall Centre last year, and the address for the tower is 1019 Hornby.

Bonnis appears to have sold the Best Buy/Marshall's on Granville (https://storeys.com/bonnis-propertie...ancouver-sold/). Buyer is GJ Group which looks like the same group that purchased Bonnis' site at Robson/Seymour. Their homepage shows a rendering of the rumoured hotel project on the Robson/Seymour corner. Link to site: https://thegjgroup.com/

Interesting.

I wonder if they plan on doing anything in that site, and more pointedly if it will be connected or related to the Seymour site given how close together, (across the street from each other) they are.

It's also interesting given Bonnis' own plans for the 800 Granville site and the swtich from office to Residential/Rental and hotel.

It'll be a dual branded hotel property and it's designed by the same architects as the (potential) Four Seasons, which looks different from this

Anyone have any idea who the GJ Group is? Their website is very thin on information other than that they are a property management and development company that has bought these 2 projects.

GJ has two properties, but one of them will be a dual branded property - same architect

Four Seasons will be purely a Four Seasons property - same architect as the GJ properties

Bonnis said it was a large hotelier that came in for Robson I believe?

Aug 27, 2024:

Quote:
"The brilliance of the federal government and unprecedented multiple rate hikes, it basically annihilated that market and made it no longer feasible for people to own and occupy their office space, which is a real shame for those smaller office occupiers," says Bonnis, who adds that they have sold 600 Robson Street to an "international hotelier" and are looking to sell 526 Granville Street.

Sounds like it's this Indian company from the text which is almost identical to the Canadian arm's website homepage.

Quote:
A project development and management company which aims to bring high end luxury hospitality, mixed used and entertainment offerings to India.

The company aims to own and build various projects under management contracts with well-known and high end global brands and to take project quality and offering to a new platform within India.

With the present hotel and consumer industry in India entering the global arena, supported by its potential economy and the growth of Indian tourism, the company sees a large potential of delivering high end global projects.

The nature of the projects being largely hospitality and mixed used with an emphasis on F&B, which is driven by the emerging trend within the country of acceptance of unconventional and varied F&B offerings, which have become hugely successful.

The company develops and deliver these projects, however as Indian hospitality and retail sector matures with time, the offering will carve its niche in terms of product and services and there will thus be a rationalization of development costs which will be in line with the market positioning.

Looks like they own 2 smaller hotels and a bunch of land in India, with plans to develop some architecturally significant mixed use projects on said land. That Namaste Tower appears to have been in the works for for 15 years with no progress. I hope these 2 sites don't suffer the same fate.

Those hotel brands make sense for what GJ is going to develop here

^^ Seems like Perkins&Will again?

EDIT: Just noticed the very accurate rendering of the old 800 Granville proposal which makes it even more likely it's Perkins&Will?

The single storey retail building at 55 West Hastings was demolished in the past couple of days. Rental building approved a while ago.

I would LOVE to know who the money is behind GJ.

Same CEO of that company from early 2010s that was opening highend hotels (most that never opened) got into a furniture rental AI startup in Toronto? His bio mentions the hospitality angle.

Quote:
Entrepreneur with a strong record of building and sustaining growth of furniture manufacturing and hospitality businesses over the last 25 years
https://www.nureai.com/about.html

Very weird. It'll be interesting to hear if it's the same people or if it's something completely different.

I would lean towards Bonnis having ordered those new plans for the 30 storey hotel on Robson from Perkins & Will and selling it to someone with the property.
