I doubt it. I am going to set my phone to record my commute just in case.
I don't plan to make contact...just match their speed so they can't get in front of me. Getting cut off by 3 cars following each other really close is dangerous. The last one nearly clipped my front. I know their truck based SUVs have zero handling and acceleration, so that wont be a problem.
If they do hit me, I will keep following them if they don't stop and report a hit and run. They don't have any special status, they aren't unmarked police cars...they have huge white Vanoc logos on the side and are stock SUVs.

The Pacific Centre rotunda is a massive IGLOO.
Stereotypes aside, it actually looks pretty good.

TSN is officially in Vancouver. Just turned on Sportscentre and Dan Otoole is in our new Convention Center with the Sails in the background. It looks pretty good. Tons of Olympic Coverage now.

On Saturday I was in the rotunda at the Take 5 when they were putting the igloo dome on, then walked around downtown, went into the Bay with the kids to buy the red mittens (zoo!), and then walked past the rotunda again. They were putting the first layer of "ice block" wrap on, near the dome, so I could see it was going to be a dome. I thought it was a good idea, stereotypes aside, because the rotunda is the perfect shape for it. And it means that all along Georgia there is now a pretty continuous dressing-up of the buildings - from the TD tower, RBC tower, Scotia's podium, The Bay, and then down to the live site area!

I actually commented to my other non-Canadian friends that for the first time since living here, downtown *finally* started looking like the real city that I think it has the potential to be, not the Very Big Town that it has been up until now.

Bravo Vancouver. You've hit adolescence!

There is a lot of activity around BC and GM Place. People doping security checks near the white tents and they are letting through into BC Place. Anyone know whats going on? They all look like regular folks and not volunteers. Hmmm....

Volunteers and the guests of volunteers are being treated to a showing of one of the two full-dress rehearsals of the Opening Ceremony. After tonight's rehearsal, there's another one on Wednesday.

I'm quite sure that after tonight and Wednesday, a lot of secrets about the Opening will be leaked out.

They're not floating in the river! Guess they realized that they'd lose them all due to waves.

Olympic rings made entirely out of cranberries!
Weighs more than 30,000 pounds

Sonia Aslam Feb 08, 2010 17:02:54 PM

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - It's a spectacular tribute to the 2010 Games. The City of Richmond has unveiled an image of the Olympic rings made entirely out of cranberries.

Thirty thousand pounds and 13 million worth of them to be exact.

The rings are at Brighouse Park, adjacent to the Richmond O-zone and will remain on display throughout the Games. Richmond is the largest producer of the fruit in Canada, with more than 60 family-owned farms.

Hmm. Floating would have been better.

How long until the area is over run by birds eating the half rotten cranberries?

yup I see them not giving a shit about others.......

AND......almost all the cars are SINGLE DRIVERS NO PASSENGERS.........

OLYMPIC FOOD

Over at the Shangri-La, ...

Top dessert has to the 'Snow-Capped Cypress," their tribute to (and wish for) Cypress Mountain. It's a white chocolate pavlova with Yuzu sorbet and Thai basil syrup (see photo at right). Yum.

"In 2008, the World stopped with amazement at the Beijing 2008 ceremonies, NOW, in Vancouver Canada the World stops again. WHAT WILL WE SEE THIS TIME?!"

Please World, be impressed

You're in Quebec? How's your french?

I suspect they are just practice driving. Getting to know routes perhaps? But that is normal with SUVs.

The observation I made was a general observation over the past few days, with more drivers infringing on pedestrian walks or turning into active pedestrian crossings . . . I haven't noticed specifically any Olympic marked vehicles doing so. I figured the culprits were more just visitors from other provinces or the states arriving into town. The aggressiveness toward pedestrians is more like something I observed when I lived in the states.
