I was excited to see this article on the NY Times last Sunday. I work for Hamlet Homes and we have been working on this project for some time now.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/22/realestate/22nati.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

The first rendering is of the condo portion of our development at Waverly Station, near the Meadowbrook (3900 S.) TRAX Station.

The second rendering is of the most exciting project mentioned in the article Birkhill at Fireclay; a 30-acre, $140 million walkable TOD going in soon at the Murray N. TRAX station. It will feature 420 residential units and 200,000 square feet of retail and office space.

This will be a huge improvement on what currently greets commuter at the Murray N. TRAX station: an empty field.

Its exciting to see projects like this go in around transit centers, and not just because I work for the company building it.

That IS exciting--I've though for years that the Fireclay station would be a great spot for some TOD to go in. Looks good!

I really like the Murry one. This building will make Murry more of a urban city. Good size building that will add to Murry's little skyline.

I reread this posting of mine right after I finished reading the "Bash RSL" forum (which main focus seemed to be whether or not a forum member--who made a generalization about Hispanics and soccer--was being racist) and worried that I hadn't been clear, possibly sending the wrong message by not explaining why I didn't like the black letters.
I think most of you understood what I meant, but for those of you who didn't: I have nothing against human beings that are black, or, the color black! I just prefer a lit up sign rather than a silhouetted one. Although, this preference could change.

These renderings look great! My only complaint is that the right hand side of the first building doesn't look very permeable.

This seems to be the norm anymore. I am afraid with the rocky US economy that Utah's economy will start to slow and developers will become cautious and more projects will be delayed. Can you guys believe the gas prices?

Gas prices are nothing compared to what I was paying last summer in Bakersfield... I can handle 2.89, no problem.

How high were you paying in Bakersfield? Utah's highest is about where we are at now at just under $3.00. And there's talk that it's going to go even high going well over $3.00. I'm starting to hate my car.

well, that means more renovated A class space, which can hurt developers wanting to build new towers.

For me, I love my car. I just wish it could sit there and soak up the sun and be powered from the rays.... but then some evil company or some state government will build one of those sun shields like Mr. Burns did.

Wren: $3.60 a gallon? Crud! Bakersfield sounds like they kick you in the butt twice... first it's 200 degrees, and then the gas prices. At least in L.A. the weather is nice.

I remember hearing the same.

Also, someone I know, who is on UTA's board, said gas prices will likely climb to $4.00 a gallon this summer. Now, how he knows that...I don't know. Maybe it's just speculation.

oh yeah, this a a cool area. there's a fair amount of new construction going on there. "the blue conservatory" townhomes look good (is it close to that?).
There's an article in the Trib today about how areas near trax lines are becoming quite valuable, so this area will probably do the same. It's good you got it when you did.
I'm a fan of the architecture, It's good to see some modern homes going in.
