They changed it to an LRT type system, which everyone clamours for. But everyone hates it.

Maybe it'd be cooler if it was a train you were getting on, instead of another bus.

That was different though. Wasn't it. Kidthink? This is just a reclad replacing the gold with black. Finishing the work started years ago when the window units were replaced. They left mullions exposed.

Not sure if construction is going to be restarting soon at the Carrington Real Estate site out my way in EK at Kimberly and London. That's the location where a previous developer had nearly complete apartment complex catch fire and burn to the ground.

When I drove by there today, I saw parked on the north side of the lot a small skidsteer loader and a wood chipper on site. This may mean Carrington is getting ready to restart or they are just cleaning up bush on the site to keep the city happy.

That's good. Probably going to take down the trees that burnt in the fire and get the site ready for spring start-up.

All the scrub brush is down to knee high level along Blanatye Ave as of my drive by into Valley Gardens this morning.

The bush clearing contractor left all the chain link panel construction fencing down which allows access into the open pit where the basement / under ground parking was. I'm sure somebody will be calling 311 to complain that its unsafe.

At one time in the early 1970's MPI's towing contractor (United Towing) had a compound on either that lot or the lot next door to the west where the condo's are. Its amazing how things change over the years with properties changing use.

Well all the routes are new and yes most things requires transfers. It's all brand new to everyone right now. And it's a spine and feeder system like the LRT everyone wants. You take a bus to the LRT, then ride the LRT, then get onto another bus. Or if you're to/from somewhere close to the LRT you walk. That's what this type of system is.

I've heard things like that, Ie you cant get somewhere seemingly simple without a convoluted route. My trip time has doubles or tripled to downtown from home.

And if I had not retied from work a year ago, my bus trip would be about the same and I would would get off in front of my building instead of having to walk a block south down Donald from Portage Ave. Going home I would have to walk 1 block east to to Smith @ Graham so it would be a wash.

Yeah Kidthink ended up at a smaller office down Graham. I wonder if their funding changed up.

This belongs in the other thread but... The Blue/FX lines trace out a potential future rapid transit/BRT/LRT-style map, and have higher frequency, but at the expense of the other routes (especially feeders after business hours or on weekends).

So, for example, you can take an FX3 direct from City Hall to Osborne Junction, because it is a major node on the rapid transit route, but not to the more central part of the Village. You can, however, take the F8 from City Hall to Donald and River (not as frequent as the FX3, but fairly direct), or the D16 from City Hall to Osborne and Stradbrook (less frequent than FX3 or F8, and takes a bizarre trip through St. B).

I wonder how they managed to demo all of the buildings on this site prior to a building permit being issued?
