True, and I know of a few secret free parking spots too near Rideau Centre. Thats if I am not biking, like in the winter. I can count on one hand how many times I paid for parking at Rideau Centre over the past 15 or so years.

Having to find parking space at the Rideau Centre and paying for parking can be a real nuisance for most people. I know a few people who complained that they had to pay 12 or 13$ just to get something for 10 minutes. Parking is rather expensive at the Rideau centre. The Rideau centre is not a problem to me, because I just walk there by foot.

Parking at the Rideau Centre is $1.50/30 minutes...extremely reasonable. I can usually find a spot in the small lot/westin lot on P1 next to the doors where Richtree used to be. If not, there are always spots in the garage which has great access to the mall. I park there on average a couple times a week and it's easy and affordable.

Let's have some fun. You guys don't know me, so here's a little bit about me: I'm a 27 year old guy from Renfrew. Ottawa since 2005. I live on Elgin. Studied geography at uOttawa, work in retail merchandising. Thanks, uOttawa. If you want to know anything else, you can private message me. Yay!

A little tip for my fellow community members, you can park behind 60 Daly Ave in the evenings and on weekends for free, between spots 27-35

As well, all of the side streets in Sandy Hill east of King Edward are completely unrestricted evenings and weekends. If the weather's nice it's a very easy walk.

When my mother was alive, we would go grocery shopping and shop at the Rideau Centre. We would park in the garage at the market. It cost money, but it was during the week. When the cinemas were opened, we parked free on the parking lot at the University of Ottawa. We had a free parking ticket which lasted a year.

Probably Fall 2016, since they are also building two entrances to the O-Train station in that general area.

Last Monday, as I walked on the ground floor near where the old food court use to be, it did not say anything about a Shopper's Drug Mart and LCBO coming soon. I have heard that the Rideau centre expansion is suppose to be finished by August 1 2016 which would make it still summer.

The expansion will be finished August 2016, but the original mall will still have things to finish, especially if any stores move into the new section. Plus any mall will always have stores coming and going.

By the way, the new Jack & Jones is already open and its nice and spacious! It definitely has a better selection than the other locations, however the staff seemed bored. I've never been accosted by so many bros telling me about sales in such a short length of time.

I do wonder one thing: the passageways from the Rideau Centre to the underground concourse are being excavated, I've seen pictures of the pit being dug in the old food court site. I wonder if its RTG or Rideau Centre construction crews doing the work?

Hard to tell. Based on the constant updates on the Place de Ville entrance on the Confederation Line and lack thereof for Rideau Centre entrances, I'd say it is a Cadillac Fairview project.

You are right! There is still a lot of work to do at the Rideau Centre, even if the expansion is completed. The LRT definitely will not be ready in 2016. They still have a lot of work to do. They said that the LRT is supposed to be completed on Canada Day of 2016, but we will wait and see. To me, they are probably going to take much longer than that. They will have to put the rail tracks on the under ground of the Rideau centre and build ticket offices. There is still no tenant for the former Rideau Centre cinemas. Something has to go up there. I heard rumours from the other people in this revitalization thread that a Shopper's Drug Mart and a LCBO are suppose to go, where the old food court was., but I do not know. I think that part of the LRT station is going, where the Exchange Pub was. Did they close down the Banana Republic for men shop? I think that the Jack & Jones is located near the Banana Republic for men, but I am not sure.

we'll have to wait to 2018 for LRT and not 2016

For your information, Loga, the LRT is expected to be substantially completed by October 2017 and will is start operating in the Spring of 2018 (all this information is already on the Confederation Line website). I also don't understand the need to repeat information that is already present in this thread. The Jack and Jones store has opened where the former Mexx was, right across the Banana Republic for men.

I think that Tiffany & Co is supposed to be opening in August, but I am not sure. I expect that they probably must sell very nice expensive jewellary. They have a Tiffany's in Manhattan, but it is a much bigger store. It sells a huge selection of lovely expensive jewellery. The Tiffany & co at the Rideau Centre will probably be like the one in New York.
