You are right! There is no need for two pedestrian bridges. I think that people should just make an effort in going down the stairs or escalator and just crossing at the lights to go from the Rideau Centre to the Bay. There was a word play in both the H&M and Zara which are supposed to come at the Rideau Centre in August 2016. They just reversed the words. They called Zara 'Azra' instead. J.OT13 mentioned to me that the restaurant which is supposed to go in the expansion is 'Joey's' not 'Ted's". None of the restaurants like 'Panni Cott' and 'Tandori Chicken' are in the new food court. They have 'A&W', 'NYC', 'Smoke Burger', 'Starbucks', 'Shanghai Express', 'Greek on Wheels', 'Trattoria Tevore', 'Creperie' and 'Purdy's Chocolate. They put a 'Davis Shoes' in the YouTube video which does not exist in the Rideau centre.

-.-

they are fictitious names there only for the use of the video... it was made 2 years ago... tenants weren't fully announced, so they just put a bunch of fake names... they always do that. look at the LRT concept drawings for the rideau lrt... 5 floor ogilvy and a scotiabank... both are history.

the full new tenant list i'm sure will be announced sometime this year.

I love this site, especially the Rideau Centre redevelopment thread, but I find it so hard to participate in these discussions based on these inane, endless responses.

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

A shopping mall is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of shopping precinct or shopping centre, in which one or more buildings form a complex of shops representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from unit to unit. A shopping arcade is a specific form serving the same purpose. Many early shopping arcades such the Burlington Arcade in London, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and numerous arcades in Paris are famous and still trading. However, many smaller arcades have been demolished, replaced with large centres or "malls", often accessible by vehicle. Technical innovations such as electric lighting and escalators were introduced from the late nineteenth century. From the late twentieth century, entertainment venues such as movie theaters and restaurants began to be added. As a single built structure, early shopping centres were often architecturally significant constructions, enabling wealthier patrons to buy goods in spaces protected from the weather.

I noticed today that the old Mexx store will be a Jack and Jones, which was fairly quick to replace in my opinion.

Sweet, I love Jack & Jones, one of my favourites for European men's fashion.

Does Jack & Jones only sell Men's clothes. They have a big Harry Rosen shop and a Banana Republic for men not far down.

I love the painting on the wall of the Rideau centre expansion. It looks like a nice piece of artwork. Is it going to stay there, once the expansion is completed?

There are too many women's clothes shops in the Rideau centre anyway. Men are entitled to have their own clothes shops. The Nordstrom probably sells some men's clothes along with the Bay. The Harry Rosen and Banana Republic sells men's clothes. Most of those clothes shops seem to be more designed for women.

women care too much about how they look, so they need more clothing stores...

men are simple... as long as it smells good, we're ok

After Jack & Jones and H&M move into Rideau, I'll never have to go to Bayshore again!

Well, if you're driving, Bayshore has free parking, but I agree with you, I much prefer Rideau Centre. For me, its as soon as they open Simons, I will be going there exclusively instead of Bayshore.

If you live in the central area or the east end, the lower driving cost (factoring in gas as well as the wear and tear that everybody forgets to factor in) to Rideau makes up for the cost of parking.

I'd rather pay for parking than deal with Bayshore's parking lot (but I live DT so no paid parking for me)!
