All finished with those, alas, but I saw this sitting on the ground and kept trying to think what kind of unearthly material could make a cylinder this size weigh 1000 tons. Unobtainium? Cartoon anvils from the Acme catalog?
Since I couldn't see the fittings, I never thought of it being a jack.
I think it's interesting that the other 7 pilings have sufficient friction that they wouldn't rise as the test column is being pushed down. I guess that's also part of what they're looking at.
