Those aerial shots are sweet. Once Modera and NCR get underway, I wouldn't be surprised if the Cheetah bites the dust.

Modera should have already started construction, no?

Not yet. Someone, I believe it was GeorgiaPeanuts, said they were still moving forward in the permitting process.

I don't think it's an insult at all. The Crackers played right across the street from the Sears building (where PCM is now) and were greatly loved by generations of Atlantans.

When the announcement was first made, someone in the Atlanta City Hall made a comment about what they would call the Braves once they moved the ballpark to Smyrna. It was something akin to "What are they going to call them the Cobb Crackers or Smyrna $h!tholes?"

I'm not trying to promote the vulgarity, just bringing it up for context.

Historically, you are correct. The Ponce Ballpark was located wher the Home Depot / Whole Foods shopping center is today across from Ponce City Market. There is apparently a plaque up by the magnolia trees behind the shops.

Also, PCM has posted some cool old photos on their blog and Flicker stream.

It's very unfortunate that BGump took an amazing photo thread and marred it by labeling the new Braves stadium as the Symrna Crackers staduim. We can play "dumb" if we choose to but we all know that the ATLANTA BRAVES moved to Atlanta from Milwaukee as the BRAVES. They have been called the Braves since they moved to Boston.

The comment was highly inappropriate and no amount of talking about some other team that has not been in existence in my lifetime will change my mind.

But I do agree with others...the photos were amazing.

PremierAtlanta, although I appreciate your concern for the "inappropriateness" of BGump's label. I think he was being tongue and cheek about the matter.

You do have to admit the label is not without merit considering how they left downtown Atlanta and moved to a predominately wealthy white suburb and had the the taxpayers pick up 70% of the cost. That is inappropriate by my standards.

Good lord sometimes this forum is too much A third of you are looking for a fight and a third of you are looking to be offended

Anyway, all of the demo work at the Atlantic House appears to be complete. The buildings are no more ... meanwhile I have seen no evidence of demo work being done at all on the 10th and W. Peachtree sites despite the signs and the fencing that is up. Does demo work usually include grading too?

I think they are prepping the inside of the office building for demo, I have seen some crew parked on site when heading home from work.\

Also Hanover Buckhead Village Land Dev. Permit was filed yesterday so that is now in permitting.

Compared to some of the other proposals this filing was pretty quick. There are so many proposals in the permitting stage right now. Before long there will be many more cranes dotting the Midtown and Buckhead skylines. Now if we could only get Downtown in to the residential construction action.

I think the completion of the flagship Walgreens, with their expanded grocery selection, and the eventual grocery tenant at Underground will go a long way in heating up the Downtown residential market.

When I lived Downtown, the first question often was where I went grocery shopping.

You would think the City of Atlanta would offer grants or tax abatements to lure a grocery store.
