The update blog this week said that Dundas-Talbot intersection would be open around mid-September, at which time the Dundas-Richmond intersection would completely close for about 6 weeks.

Looks like they are behind schedule. Not even a month ago, city staff said Dundas and Richmond would be closed starting the 4th of September. Will both be closed for 1/2 a month, I wonder?

No, Richmond closed after Talbot opens, as per their blog

Quote:
The intersection of Dundas Street and Talbot Street is expected to re-open for northbound and southbound traffic in mid-September.
Once Talbot Street and Dundas Street intersection is reopened, the intersection of Richmond Street and Dundas Street will be closed for approximately 6 weeks so crews can complete underground infrastructure work.

Once Talbot opens, Richmond will close.

I'd assume buses would use Talbot, Clarence or both while Richmond is out of action.

Okay good. They will have a concrete base plus whatever other base under the pavers, whatever those pavers will be. Downtown, I have sprained my ankle on so many of the pavers that just have a granular and sand base.

Day 95 Aug 31

Not entirely sure why but the gutter at the new crosswalk of Dundas and Talbot has been taken out - needs to be redone?

Thanks - fixed. 95 days in now. Closing in on 100 days - wonder if we will see any work on the cobblestone or Talbot intersection before then.

With Fanshawe's new downtown campus opening up next week (in addition to the one they already have), things are about to get a lot busier downtown. An additional 2,000 people will be in the area from what I have read.

...And they still need to replace the sidewalks on Dundas between Talbot and Richmond - odd how Ridout to Talbot was being done first. That's going to be a big pedestrian choke point if you're down to one narrow sidewalk on Dundas. At least Carling should be opened up by the time Fanshawe opens to relieve some of the strain.

I'm really glad to hear about the new Fanshawe campus. London's downtown is already pretty fair, and seeing it become more urban and varied definitely helps out everyone in the city (except nimby's *cough*)

When I do visit London's downtown, I see a lot going for it in terms of cultural and social spaces, and a fair bit of parks and shops.

The blog had this picture today, showing a temporary paved walkway across Dundas connecting the 2 Fanshawe buildings. This would also connect the walkway the runs from Dundas to Market Lane, so that would be another way for people to move around until sidewalks are open again on Dundas.
