From the Downtown Updates thread.
Anyone know why they would use two different colours/styles of brick for the facade? Could it be a cost issue, or is more likely purely a design decision? IMO, the brick on most of the first few floors looks a lot better than the brick on the upper floors...

One of the heritage houses has been worked on, the other is still unfinished:

This is probably my favorite small tower downtown. Would have looked great 10 or so floors higher, but I'm happy with it as is.

Nice, thanks.

I was thinking that the brick at the penthouse level looked a bit "orphaned".
Good to see more brick going up.

Took this pic a few minutes ago:

Looks like there's a pretty sweet rooftop pool in the works.

^ Great photo vanman. Is that really going to a pool? Sweet amenity!

I'm not entirely sure but that's what it looks like to me so far. It could just end up being some odd shaped planter which would be lame.

I quite like this building, not a fan of the mixed brick types but I think it adds contrast. It will probably look a lot better in 10 years than the 90's condos look now as well.

It's not a pool. I can't remember exactly, it may be a water feature thingy, but I think it's just a planter. The amenity space is mainly rooftop patio, dog walking area, and I think a small playground for kids. Still pretty neat, but no, not as sweet as an outdoor rooftop pool.

This one has a dog run as well? I remember that was one of the amenities for the Beasley.

I hate that shade of brick... doesn't match Vancouver at all. Ya it's yaletown, but this tower is surrounded by 90's beigeness.

I prefer glass, copper, wood, etc, but if I have to choose brick I rather see more ironspot brick, or something more west coast...

Figured the pool was too good to be true... too bad.

My photos, today - brick has been installed to the top, and the window wall where the crane was located is finished:

Looks nice. Thanks L-I!

This tower really blends in well in Yaletown.

Looks great, thanks.

WRT brick - the townhouse at The Beasley is in the yellow/buff brick and it looks good (doesn't compete with the red brick of the heritage block).

One colour brick I'd like to see downtown on a modern style building is the light gray brick that you see on the 1960s buildings at UBC - i.e. Buchanan, and on the Chemistry additions, and Hebb Theatre. That would be awesome - it would have worked really well on the waterfront.
