Nice shots of New West sponeg. It's funny how most people in Vancouver write off NW as a shithole because of 12th street, Royal, and the sketchy part of Columbia, but beyond those areas there are many really nice, restored, old houses.

Whalleyboy thanks for those pics. The last time I saw pics from that vantage point was at least a few years ago. Their is definitely a huge difference now. I'll try and dig up the old photos for comparison.

Here are some more pics i took while flying over Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows

This is looking west down the Pitt River towards the Pitt River Bridge

The next few pics are of the Pitt Lake area.

The next few are new housing developments in east Maple Ridge.

This one we use to call "toontown."

This is at the mouth of Kanaka Creek.

This is a close up of some condos.

And here are my favorite two of this batch of Downtown Maple Ridge.

All photos are my own.

Cheers

I've always loved those last two W. Van apartments. Definitely classics of their era

Gorgeous apartments - love the bright colours and the intricate railings. I'd love to see them get heritage status so they're not replaced one day by something generic, glass and concrete.

They definitely represent the time period they were built in and I'd put money on them achieving heritage status one day. At least I hope they will!

This would be Mt Robie Reid, it is just outside Metro Vancouver and the north side of the mountain has one of the bigest rock faces around. Its something like a 1700m drop straight down and quite a feeling sitting on the edge (For comparison the Squamish chief has a rockface of around 550-600m, Grousse mountain is only 1230m high and the Shangri la is 200m, so imagine 1700m rockface and dangling your feet off the edge ...the mountain is i think around 2100m).

Here is a pano i took this summer from the summit, not allot of detail but I did make out the Golden ears bridge, metrotown, AND the Olympic speed skating ovals roof (which was around 70km away). Parts of Coquitlam, Burnaby and Richmond were visible where the sun is shining and the golden ears ridge was visible on the left hand side.
