LOL! Somewhere there was a thread asking about your town/city's motto.

Is this what we may expect on future "Welcome to Edmonton" signs?

Nice pics.

Edmonton, Cambridge Ontario would be glad to trade signs with you. You can have the one with the stork standing in front of the bridge.

driving midtown today.
the tower crane up ahead is for the u/c crystal blu at yonge & bloor.

and there's a huge 'holiday tree' if you look between the two tall towers -it sits atop the rail bridge.

I guess if it had been built much further away from the CBD kind of like the Space Needle in Seattle or the Hillbrow Tower in Johannesburg, although that would've looked funny up until today. I've always appreciated the Calgary Tower's contribution to the overall Calgary skyline, maybe you guys need a new (larger) one of those now!
I agree with Wooster. It has a really amazing view from the inside. you are completely surrounded by buildings but you can still see over most of them. Does anyone in Calgary really think the tower defines Calgary's skyline?

Beautiful renders, though!
Once again, the tower has great views from the inside. It only gets better as the density of the core increases! The will not building anything taller directly beside it so the views will be saved. Go up in it one day. I dont even like the tower, mostly because the added a glass floor to on part of the tower. It now looks like a mobile home with a bad addition...... haha

Canada

Canada as a whole should be very proud of all of these skylines. Very impressive stuff and very impressive pictures. What a thread! I feel like this site was made just for me!

I hope that in the future we continue to build up rather than out. So far so good for many of our cities.

I love toronto for the density that it has acheived. While it is not always the perfect example of a great city, it is our largest city and I think it is headed in the right direction.

I visited Toronto last year and was very impressed at how packed with pedestrians the streets are at night with people just enjoying their city. I live in Calgary right now and every day it seems like there is one more person walking here. The pedestrian life will hopefully get even better as the all of the 5-10 new condos fill with people. I am not going to say whos skyline is better because that is ridiculous. I like them all of them!

Winnipeg may not have the best skyline in Canada but MAN do they have good food!

Peace

I wouldn't say the tower defines the skyline, but it does add some uniquness to it, and probably helps identify it as Calgary.
I think it just needs to be made taller and updated.

Does every major Canadian city have a round building like the one shows in the lower left here?

That is indeed the Metrotown area. My brother has almost this view, but a little lower down (he's in a 3 story walk up, just before the towers in Metrotown).
