That is such a great picture. Just imagine when (or if?) YSL is built.

That is local MP Andy Fillmore giving a press conference about George's Island opening to the public. The wharf structure is new and some other improvements have been made to the island to support regular visitors. One of the local tour boat operators offers ferry service or private boats can dock after registering with Parks Canada.
I have never been there but it would be nice to visit someday. McNab's Island is much bigger and has been open to the public for a long time (always?) but this one has another fort to explore and different views.
The fort on this island, Fort Charlotte, was built in 1795. I think the Duc d'Anville is also buried here and there must be some kind of monument. He led a failed military expedition of 64 ships in 1746, at that time the biggest fleet to be assembled in North America.
Toronto really needs to re-learn how to have buildings not just a wall of the same deep blue glass. Individually, there are some nice new skyscrapers in Toronto, but none of them stand out because they take on the same shade and often similar shapes. I know many will love the increased bulk to Toronto's skyline (which is impressive) but Toronto's skyline was far more distinctive when it was the predominately CN/Skydome + Bay St core of 1960s-1990s towers.
