I feel semi confident in flying this thing after watching about 2 hours of Youtube tutorials. Lol.

Round and round she goes. Where it stops, nobody knows?

I found a True Story that (likely) only bunt_q could appreciate.

Oops, I see that the link above FAILS. Let's try THIS LINK, then look for "Commentary: The Shocking End to a Long Mechanics Lien Case"
Ahh, that works.

There is definitely a learning curve to this thing, especially watching out for low battery warnings. It took a ~200 ft spill into the grass (thankfully) but is totally fine. It got up and flew right away again! Anyways, here are some shots from today. It was a, let's just get up as high as possible and come back down kind of day.

Neat toy and really cool wide angle clear pix....... good job!

I have to say that this certainly can disguise all of those nasty surface parking lots downtown.......

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing, surface lots won't be as apparent. We'll see in due time, when I get to that skill level of flying.

Downtown looks so small from that angle (City Park angle too). Can't wait to see the drone shots from Little Man or thereabouts.

And I never realized the size of Congress Park despite driving by there twice a day for several years. Crazy.

Looks like a pretty kickass machine you have there.

I'm working on it! I'm still not comfortable flying in tight spaces. Hopefully later this month I'll be there!

Jesus hell man. Time to start selling some prints, that last one kicks the crap out of most of the Denver crap you see for sale around town.

As per FAA, I can't use this for commercial purposes. But you know, people are doing it anyway. I'll have to see how well the gopro quality looks on a print regardless.

You can always lawyer up, though that case, which argues older rules, is being appealed and the regs/FARs/laws have been updated and continue to shift on this topic, with the FAA mandated to produce final rules by next year.

Good editorial on why these regs are dumb, complete with handy dandy FAA infographics!

That's interesting, so it begs the question of whether Ryan, by putting the little copyright on his photos, has already broken the law. That is probably evidence of commercial intent. Or alternatively, does it invalidate the copyright? Seems like you're in a lose-lose Ryan, unless you're really just doing it as a hobby. I think you should send me the full res version of that last one, without the watermark, just as proof that you're not a lawbreaker.

It's definitely a subject that needs to get fixed. I got a bit of flak on reddit for flying higher than 400 ft which, at the time, thought you could fly in all class G airspace which is up to 1200 ft. Once again, confusing. Also was told that I have a risk of hitting aircraft flying higher than 400 ft which, who is flying sub 1000 ft in a real aircraft a mile from the city? Anyways, apparently I am now reckless, and endangering many lives with my >2lb aircraft. I do understand the concerns and have learned a great deal about quad flying this weekend. I have also realized some people are the NIMBY's of the air in this world and want to take all the pleasure out of the hobby by regulating it to no end.

Now Bunt, my argument is that the watermarks are to protect my intellectual property. I still don't want people taking my photos. I will gladly send you the original of that photo when I get home.

Also, speaking of using drones for commercial use, there is no way this was taken with a helicopter... Totally a drone. Totally commercial use.

Annoying police helicopters, helicopter ambulances, and strike aircraft on low-level strafing runs. It it's the latter, I wouldn't be too concerned about FAA regulations.

Love the sunsets

Is this the little girl I carried,
Is this the little boy at play?

I don't remember growing older,
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty,
When did he grow to be so tall?

Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise sunset
Swiftly flow the days
