^^ I like the simplicity of the design of Brookfield. It has a clean design that I like. I hope the crown lights up nicely at night.

It is not a city of skyscrapers but if you like architecture and history you'll be served! Last year, I did a huge trip to USA, saw many cities, and even if tho I visited many nice places along my way, I can say that (along the east coast at least), Quebec city is really above the list for a metro area with good landscapes. As for its old town, it's even better ; it's a one of a kind district. I'm a former Montrealer living in Quebec city since 2011, I enjoy every days here, this place has everything I need

I was in Prague a couple years ago and absolutely loved it. I love old brick and mortar buildings. We cant wait to see Quebec city. And see Canadian History Close up.

Let us SSPers know when you're about to show up in the area (I assume I'll be back home then).

I'm in Quebec City regularly (well, Levis, to be exact... it's rare that I need to cross the bridges) and would be interested in putting a face on some of the more... interesting rants We can also help you make the most out of your visit

I think that the Skyline thread serves to celebrate the beauty of the cities no matter if there are skyscraper clusters or not. Quebec City is a real jewel in the Canadian crown that is totally underrated (I've never been but I know ).

Personally I love seeing other smaller CMAs pop up every now and then to break up the pics of Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Ok, you'll love it for sure lol
The old town is rather big when you do it by foot. I haven't really compared, but just like that, I think it's even bigger than Montréal's old town, which is already a freaking good one in Canada.

I'm glad you liked it. It has so much to offer, not just the city, but the nearby region too with its old villages and natural features.

100% agree with you. I'm here for a reason, I enjoy skyscrapers and urbanism in general, but honestly, I dont think thousands of tall and modern skyscrapers will add a "personality" to a city, especially if that city has practically no heritage buildings or an old core to begin with. I know that alot of cities doesnt have the chance to have what Quebec city has, and I can live with it. But take per example the city of Kingston, Ontario, it's old town is really decently sized and this is making a big difference to me. Quebec city is underrated here because there are probably some people who dont care about old buildings, but also because it is mainly a French speaking area and its geographical location which is on the "edge" of the Québec city - Windsor corridor.
That said, you seems to be from the Vancouver area? I've never been there, but I can say without a doubt that this metro area has the best natural landscapes in Canada, hands down! Cheers

This is a video I filmed a couple of weeks ago on A440 westbound.
The skyline itself is not the greatest as I said, but the fact that most of it is built on a hill of about 100m above sea level and surrounded by dense neighbourhoods is making a huge difference in my opinion. What do you think? (Watch in full screen if you can)

great video. QC feels much bigger than it is. One of my fave cities in the country. I have visited 25 times, at least.

Yes. Montreal is to Quebec City as Vancouver is to Victoria. Obviously Victoria doesn't have the same history and isn't as large as Quebec City, but it definitely feels very urban for a 350 000 person city.

Proof that it's not necessairly the number of skyscrapers that makes a city feel big or not. IMO, the quality of the street level is very important. I dont know if you will agree with me on this, but even today, I find that Ottawa-Gatineau doesnt feel much bigger than Quebec City...and this is surprising, because when you look at the numbers, they are nearly 600k over! But it's like if the numbers are not reflecting it...when you visit in person.
Btw, when was your last visit here?

But still...Victoria looks quite decent to me. I've never visited but it seems to offer a very good quality of life and it looks so clean! It's one of those cities where I think I could live and feel good there. I like mid-sized coastal cities, so it helps lol...only down is I would be a bit worried about seismic activity...

Victoria is really nice, what sucks is to have to take the ferry as soon as you have to go anywhere. (That probably helped keep it interesting; same way isolation made St. John's what it is, and is therefore both a drawback and an essential quality.)
