Still don't understand your logic on this. It's not the same highway it was when it got that name, so that really shouldn't factor into it, even a little bit.

It is still the same area that it happened. Also, many people may not know of the rebuild.

How does people not knowing of the rebuild, or being in the same location, factor into the logical speed limit?

Difference between a trial and a roll out.

A ring road. Never mind it’s actually mentioned in the document.

Unless that’s in a separate but related document, that is.

Some good news for Highway 101 in Timmins. That section of the highway has typically made top 10 of the worst roads in Ontario.

Yes, that is definitely good news. I wonder if the money is for over a number of years. The Hwy 101 connecting link is probably the main road in the worst shape in the entire province within a city.

Fixing Algonquin Blvd, Riverside Dr, and the rest of the connecting link is badly needed. But the bigger problem is not having a bypass. Ore trucks and other transport trucks go right through the centre of the city and really do a number of the road surface. In the long-run it would probably cost less to have the bypass.

Well, it is the North, and there is a provincial election in a few months.....

Is there any documentation on a bypass? I know there is/was one for North Bay.

I drew one up 2 years ago.
I deleted it off my map when I was cleaning up though.

I'd be curious where they would stick it. On the eastern side of Timmins is a lot of mining company land, so a corridor may not be readily accessible. Airport/Laforest Rd. acts as a partial bypass for the west. Maybe extending Laforest Rd. to 101 east of Porcupine, pending a mining company easement?

Also, how many trucks are using 101 as a through route versus going to a destination in Timmins? I've no idea.

It’s no longer in the map in my signature but thankfully I have taken a screenshot of it before:

Yesterday's budget also promised to build a year round road to the Ring of Fire region. Hopefully the EA and route planning gets a major kick start and involves the FN's. The sooner this starts the better.

Lafleur Drive was designed to be part of a future bypass. The mines would definitely by involved in where it would be located and would benefit greatly with increased production. Newmont (formerly Goldcorp) has its own system of roads because of that reason. And their roads have overpasses over public roads. Nobody benefits from the current way where our main road goes right through downtown.
