Black and white is the flavor of the day in new designs.

Are we not allowed any colour? Is it seriously that much more expensive for a touch of blue or red?

For the love of god - no more red.

I'm sick of seeing the same uninspired light grey, dark grey, and burgundy colored cubes pop up everywhere

It’s just that uniform look that all new builds seem to have it’s so bitterly uninspiring.

Plain jane square look. Put some brick into it. The recent higher profile Number 10 builds look great and have some variation in the building form. These are just square stucco boxes painted white or grey.

I've got a brick beauty at Railside in the works. I hope it all goes as planned.

Is Number 10 and Ray Wan the only outfits doing non or less EIF stuff these days? Anyone else? Just curious that’s all.

The St Boniface ER expansion (where I’m working exterior) turned out really nice for what it is. Will try to get some shots before the job ends next month.

Is Railside all rentals? It's leased land right?

I'm pretty sure there will be some limited condo stock. Probably 99 year lease type deal.

Ya the official website says it's a mix of rental and condo. I just hope the condos don't all end up being airbnbs...it will just cause problems for the actual residents in the long run. No one wants to live in the middle of a transient party community. I'm curious if the Forks can enforce a no air bnb policy.

I think that building is mostly EIFS actually. I’ll have to check next time I go by. It is decent.

There is one condo building, the developer is StreetSide:

I think you mean Lipton and Banning, Bannerman is in the North End.

^That’s my neck of the woods. Currently that whole block is vacant and derelict. That project was originally announced in 2019, however Covid then interest rates stopped it dead. During Covid the empty space between buildings was converted into a Beer Can-style outdoor summer patio venue but only for one season, which was too bad, as it was a great thing to have in the neighbourhood. The lot has been waiting for development since then, and I am eager to see it happen. With the 6 storey development behind Shoppers on Burnell going up and possibly this, that is a lot of units creating a lot of density in this area. Very cool. Hope to hear more soon.

The ER expansion? Exterior is mostly brick and tyndall stone.
