Totally agree. The transformation of that part of downtown is pretty cool. Crazy to think how it looked just 4 years ago from that same spot.

A ton of infill going on in town. More then Ive ever seen before, but not a ton of new single detached homes. That will eventually happen again but I think right now what were doing is the right way.

Finally starting to understand how they're going to do the wave effect up the towers. The show suite on 4th ave looks to give a good representation and after seeing the few railings go up it looks like this is how they'll do it. Should look good.

Reminds me of the Trades and Technology building just down the street from it.

Looks like the Tournament Inn redevelopment might move ahead quicker then anticipated. Commercial portion up for lease, move in late 2026.

Is there movement on the Yew Street/ Jamaican Kitchen project? I heard things were happening over there.

Hotel coming as well: https://www.castanetkamloops.net/news/Ka...rmer-Tournament-Inn-in-Valleyview#580888

I've seen the prints for a comfort inn planned for the old tournament inn location. Im suprised its moving as quickly as it is.

The Comfort Inn and Suites is planned to include 72 hotel rooms, and an indoor pool and fitness centre, as well as a 200-person banquet or conference facility.

Dhesa said he is looking for tenants for the commercial strip, which is planned to include about 5,000 square feet of dividable space. He said he’s specifically hoping for restaurants to serve hotel clients, highway travellers and area residents.

“The hotel is going to be there, and you got the highway and the high school and all that kind of stuff right behind, and the apartments," he said. "So that's why we felt like that was needed for the area."

Those attractions are nothing special. I feel like for those to work they would have to get the natives on board and put all 3 on Mount Paul. If they want to put the convention centre below Sun Rivers, then there should be a gondola to the top of Mount Paul from the convention centre, and have all 3 overlooking Kamloops. I just don't see it happening if it's anywhere else in some random location with just 1.

For Tourism Kamloops to come up with these 3 is pretty lame. Pretty sure anyone that would be funding a tourist draw would come up with something better than what they did. Pretty sad that this is what a years worth of research gets you, just a copy of what's been done somewhere else already.

I think a chairlift servicing the bike ranch would really make Kamloops the ultimate destination for mountain biking. Keep building on that reputation.

KAMLOOPS — Despite its best efforts, the City of Kamloops has fallen short of provincially mandated housing targets for the second consecutive year.

According to city staff, a total of 433 occupancy permits were issued between Oct. 1, 2024 and Sept. 30, 2025, which is below the target of 735 set by the Provincial Government. Since Oct. 1, 2023, the city has issued 882 occupancy permits, though that is also below the two-year target of 1,414 units.

“You just have to look at the overall economy and economic outlook,” Eric Beach, the Current Planning Manager at the City of Kamloops told CFJC. “The city doesn’t build the units, that’s up to the development community. All we do is approve the units.”

“We’ve implemented tax revitalization exemption bylaws to create incentives on new developments for a period of 10 years,” Beach added. “We’ve increased densities city-wide, we’ve reduced parking regulations but ultimately it comes down to the development community and the economy as to when they want to move a project forward.”

That’s really well said, something like this on top of Mt Paul would offer amazing views of the city and lake as well. It would make it the best viewpoints in the city for sure..

Totally agree. That would be such a better attraction than any 1 of the 3 they proposed.

If there was a gondola to the top they could have a similar hike to the Grouse Grind too. Would love to see the native band get on board with a tourist draw. That kind of project would kill it.
