Yeah, originally 140,000 sq ft. Maybe there'll be a phase 3 to complete the 140K.

So nothing's being done with that horrible pink-stucco 80's facade, very disappointing!! Surprised Muji didn't opt for something far more bold, that building is so overdue for a complete re-do.

sounds hopeful. today thanks to not knowing the prices i ended up spending $30 on a shower brush, lol, at muji in metrotown, it wasn't dead but it wasn't as busy as it has been on past visits. Uniqlo was quite busy.

so this will be canada's first flagship

Wow what a let down. The former gap had just as much impact as this does. I guess they didn't take the second floor and couldn't redo that part of the exterior? Not very exciting looking

There is no 2nd floor to take over it looks empty behind the fake facade.

part of it was used. It was a karaoke and a restaurant space at times. I know the skylight took a big part of the space up, when it was a "mall" it was a nice bright hallway with places to sit around.

Yeah the western section of the plaza and a bit over the old Gap/new Muji. It sort of looks like there were a few different properties but they built the fake facade to tie it together.

Without a new mall built, that's what you get downtown if you want any larger but affordable retail space. I don't blame Muji for not spending too much money to update the facade. Who knows if the landlord will raise the rent to unattainable height once the lease ends, like what the row of low-density shops are doing across the street. They tend to do this as they monopolize retail downtown. We need to put in more new retail space in and around downtown shopping cores, or even create new retail centres.

Downtown retail ownership is anything but monopolized. I'm not sure how anyone could jump to that conclusion.

I was wondering that too.
Maybe expanding the upper level?
Holt Renfrew used to have an entrance directly into the Four Seasons Hotel lobby, but I don't now how much of that H&M currently uses.

Not an "expansion" if they take it, but the Four Seasons plaza is now fenced off for demolition and construction.
