Mayor's Breakfast State of the city speech highlights.

But Morgan, who plans to seek re-election this fall, announced that a Brampton-based business, Empack Spraytech Inc., is coming to London. The company has bought 15 acres (six hectares) of land in Innovation Park on Jetstream Road, and will open a 200,000-square-foot plant employing about 50 people when it starts operating.

Other local expansions include:

- Natra Chocolate America recently added 60 jobs making chocolate products in London
- Dr. Oetker has recently added about 100 workers, now employing nearly 400
- Givens Engineering has completed a 30,000-sq.-ft. facility in the city’s Huron Industrial Park, creating 25 new jobs with an $11.5-million investment
- Skyreach Group has built a 106,000-sq.-ft. patio door manufacturing plant in Innovation Park, a $20-million investment creating 100 jobs.

Sad news today that Canadale Nursery will close in 2027.

After more than seven decades as a staple of the St. Thomas community, Canadale Nurseries Ltd. will close at the end of the 2027 gardening season.

The family also confirmed the property has been sold to new local owners, noting they were chosen for their strong community ties and commitment to St. Thomas. Further details about future plans for the land were not released.

that's too bad. My wife and I go there several times per year. Mostly we go to Heeman's and Parkdale.

CTV news piece on rumours that a European company is interested in the CAMI plant.

The Belgium-based Dumarey Group is said to be exploring the idea of buying the CAMI plant, with plans to manufacture vehicles exclusively for the European market. The reports come from the online automotive trade journal GM Authority, which has a history of being tapped into GM’s operations. The report cites sources close to the discussions.

Good news with production started at this new operation in a retooled building on 439 Sovereign Rd.

Seenergy Foods is not a company most consumers would recognize. It prepares frozen foods – largely pasta, rice and beans – and sells them to other food processors to incorporate into dishes sold in grocery stores, restaurants and institutions such as hospitals, said Ativ Ajmera, who co-owns the business with his brother, Sam.

Absolutely spot on with this generational opportunity to expand flight training at London airport. Hopefully something comes of it.

London 'region' loses 5,000 jobs in one month

https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/anal...-london-region-lost-5000-jobs-in-a-month

That's pretty bad, and it's probably going to get worse as AI, automation, Tariff man / trade war, etc keep shedding jobs

The construction sector alone lost 1,100 jobs- at a time we have a chronic housing shortage....

Yeah is really obvious in the construction sector with a big drop off in building. The only sector still with some activity is purpose built rental but even that shows a decline from just a few years ago. You can see it with the Hollowway Holdings decision to reduce the 320 King St tower from 35 floors to 31 floors and the delays on the Fitzrovia 35s tower at Oxford and Richmond and York's delays on their Court House towers. Vacancy rates are climbing on these new buildings and proposals are likely to pump the brakes on breaking ground like the 45s and 40s at Wellington and York. Will we see Medallion start their proposal on Dundas in OEV or Kellogg's residential proposals this decade?

London avg monthly rents continue to decline as population pressures ease. The impact is likely going to be seen in new rental build slowdowns as current builds wrap up.

Ingersoll firm lands $300M defense contract to make artillery shells.

IMT Precision, located on King Street, has started looking for a site to build a new plant, chief executive Cheryl Hacking said after David McGuinty made the announcement in the Oxford County community

Hopefully we see similar contracts for GD and Milotex here in London and other defense production companies. Would think London would be well positioned to be a player in the Drone business as well.

It seems that the new plant may not necessarily be located in Ingersoll. Search for site underway.
