Beautiful partly sunny morning here in Windsor at 8:30. The clouds are moving out and mostly sunny skies are forecasted for this afternoon for the eclipse at our lake house in Colchester. So happy that the weather is cooperating with clear skies and 23C highs. So I guess will be the first in Canada to experience the eclipse along with Pelee Island. Should be interesting to see how crowded it be when we get to Colchester later this morning.

Currently in the airport in Orlando, hence why I will be missing the eclipse. The plane arrives in Halifax about 45 minutes ahead of the event, but, I will be well outside the zone of totality.

cloudy here. It's supposed to start clearing up soon, but we'll need a bit of luck to see it directly. A real shame, as it was nothing but pure sun all weekend. Just bad timing!

It got sssooo dark even here. Starting to brighten up a bit now.

Port aux Basques had clouds JUST for totality, with a clear view before and after it

Exploits Valley (especially Grand Falls-Windor to Bishops Falls) had a great view.

Gander had thin cloud cover, and all the festivities. Folks seemed very pleased with the amount they got.

That was wild. Truly something that I'll never forget. Pictures don't do it justice.

It was dark enough here that the street lights flicked on for a minute.

I kept telling people 99% is nothing like 100% but some were stubbornly skeptical. Too bad for them I guess. It was truly memorable in the path of totality.

The late Hubert Reeves' son was just on RDI and he said his dad used to always say that for an eclipse, it's 100% or it's nothing. There is a huge difference between 99.99% and 100%.

But do you have bread and milk? What about toilet paper?

In seriousness though, great photo. We got about 95% totality where I live (Kalamazoo, MI), which was quite memorable too, so I can't even imagine 100%. We had absolutely perfect weather too. Completely clear skies, and about 75 F / 24 C. It got cooler, and dimmer. Not really "dark", though... kind of like dusk, but with blue skies overhead. Incredible that 5% of the sun can still provide as much light as it does.

While a small part of me wishes I had moved myself to the path of totality, the more rational part of me is glad I didn't trek down to somewhere like Toledo and deal with big crowds, overpriced hotels, and irrational panic-buying. Maybe that was overblown in the news.

I looked out the window at around 3 PM and saw shadows for the first time today, then headed across the street to view it. A fully clear sky was probably about 15 mins too late, but the clouds were pretty light with many breaks in them.

I missed most of the pre-clipse but stuck around after people had left Gage Park and watched the sun and moon begin to part... what an eerie feeling to hear birds singing like it was morning, in the mid-day "dusk". And it was amazing how bright it did get just after totality ended. I read a lot about that this past couple of weeks, but to experience it! People were cheering and clapping at totality.

My heritage is Eastern European, and I have the noggin to show for it. So my cardboard eclipse glasses have arms that are juuuust a little too short for my larger-than-average melon. They worked just fine, but I ended up holding them up to my face more than wearing them.

And there's a CP branch line not far from where I live and watched the event, and a train went by just as the eclipse was ending. Hearing its bell and rumble, and the signal bells of the street crossing, was a nice coincidence.
