an outside liquidator is used to sell the remaining stock. They will reprice everything to their original MSRP and start discounts from that price, it happens with every bankruptcy clsure, eatons target etc.

I remember when eatons closed down a couple weeks before the sale started they had a normal sale and the prices were good on sale, when the liquidation started the prices had gone up on their clearance item stock an cost more.

also they will usually remove any reduced price stickers, sears used red stickers with a reduced price, and replace them with new full price stickers.

the sears stores are being trashed apparently - so disrepectful

Huh? I'm sorry I don't follow.if you see the regular price and a % that is discounted that therefor would give you the discounted price. I remember years ago one of the department stores got in trouble with advertising their mattresses as having huge discount sale prices but they never sold them at the regular price. It's not a sale price if the product is never offer for sale at regular price. That's the false advertising issue.

Anyway as mentioned in this case this has nothing to do with sears since it's the liquidators in charge now

Could just be a mistake but an article said they are taking the top two floors from all the stores. So 5th and 6th?

its one of the toronto stores, fairview store. The picture of the metrotown store looks pretty much the same.

Re Hudsons Bay. They have 3 floors womens clothing, thats a little overkill now, they can easily get away with one good done womens floor for clothes. Nordstrom does ok with having only one floor for women.

I wonder if this will make the bay redo the basement level for something, perhaps move furniture and housewares down there?

^ HBC is going to be shrinking its retail footprint to accommodate WeWork co-working space on the top floor(s) of its downtown Vancouver and Toronto flagship stores.

i wonder if we will get the new RH store here, perhaps at brentwood? The new concept is called a gallery store and are pretty large with cafes and grand staircases and they look pretty good.

they are redoing the store in portland or.

It could relocate onto west broadwat perhaps? or somewhere else on south granville? but maybe they will just open something at brentwood or even oakridge, the new stores are massive and quite nice looking

They also have an RH Modern store in LA

i know thats why i am wondering if they will move stuff to the basement level or just get rid of selling that kind of stuff all together. The mens can easily be moved to the 3rd floor as it is now since its on the top now. the 3rd floor of womens stuff is just boring looking and old school, perhaps better suited to their west van store.

Sounds like it - the men's floor won't be nearly as nice on a lower floor (4th floor? hopefully not basement)

The lease of space to WeWork also kills any chance of Saks sharing space in the downtown Vancouver Hudson's Bay store.

With the revised Oakridge plans - that could be a possibility - as well as Brentwood.

Not tacky at all. Versace furniture fits the style of the house. Are you saying European (Italian) classic designs are tacky?

When there are only a few offerings the landlords can be demanding and choosy. Therefore we do need more shops downtown to even out this stiff competition.
