The lot directly across from the Cheetah on Spring has a for sale sign. Is that new? I don't recall seeing that a couple months ago. It'll be interesting to see how long that will last. Once that is filled, it'll really make Spring a much more walkable street.

I asked the barista at Starbucks on 7th and Peachtree when they were moving to Viewpoint, and she said "approximately at the end of October."

No, it was for sale at least since last year. NCR was considering moving its HQ to that lots:

To those who take pictures of the different and numerous construction sites...Thank You!
Agreed. Wish I knew where they took that photo at. I would love to start taking more aerial shots of the city, but it's hard to find unrestricted places to take photos that high.

Dumb question. Why is it that some projects seem to go up in a flash while others languish interminably? Is it financing? Are some contractors just faster than others?

There are so many variables that come into play when these buildings are built. Some buildings are designed to be constructed quickly (skyhouse,3380,Centergy) and others are alot more complex. (University House,33 Peachtree).

Financing is a factor at the front end to get dirt turned and the project going. Owners and developer(s) work to get the project within budget while leaving contingencies for unforeseen conditions along the way. Once settled with the lender, away they go.

The language barrier is strictly a field problem but is overcome quite easily with the use of workers/supervisors that are bilingual. Most subcontractors have bi-lingual workers onsite to help.

Any project that has any structure below grade level will take a lot longer than one that is constructed from existing grade. The faster a highrise can get to "typical" floors, the faster the construction techniques that are in place for speed building can occur.

jnihiser,

I did a double take on that third photo -- it almost looks like they are bringing in the building on a flat bed!

(Stupid me).

I guess you could say that I forced that perspective.

That's one thing I can say about Novare, everything they propose gets out the ground. I don't think there's another developer with as good of a track record for getting things done as them.

If I recall correctly, this will be a 24 story apartment tower, no? However short it may be, this is great infill. Also, to the immediate right of the photo, is this not where the site where the 30-story Three Alliance office tower is rising? It's amazing how Buckhead is growing. In about 400 feet of the Post tower above, there is the 26-story Skyhouse Buckhead, 24-story Cyan and Three Alliance center...all rising at once.

I can't wait to get back to Atlanta during the holiday season.

Yes, that is the site of the new Alliance Center site on the right. And, the Post tower is, I believe, 25-stories with 19-floors of residential above a 6-story parking podium. When I drove through the area a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking about these 4 highrise projects plus the residential and hotel projects on the north side of Phipps also starting by year end. Lots of activity in about a 1/2 mile stretch, then Buckhead Atlanta barely a mile south of there, plus all of the movement starting up again around Lindbergh. Exciting times for Buckgead!
