Holy crap, dewpoint of 28.3C right now in Point Pelee, ON. New yearly high.
Today was a sleeper hot day, was 33.3 at my house, forecast was only 30. High dew point was 25.2 and the low was 23.4.

So why those photos may give a BC appearance to some, I'm assuming to the coastal rainforests, is that they were taken in a slice of old growth forest. That is how much of Southern Ontario would have appeared before logging and clear-cutting for agriculture, and many regenerative forests will return to that look in time. That particular spot is part of the Oak Ridges Moraine, so there is constant source moisture in the form of springs and babbling brooks. Moss, ferns, cedar and hemlock thrive in those conditions, similar species to the rainforests of BC. Just a matter of eastern cedar/hemlock vs western cedar/hemlock, etc.
Edmonton got absolutely pounded by storms again on Saturday, which put an end to several festivals, including Neon Skies Music Festival at Ice District, Great Outdoors Comedy Festival at Kinsmen Park in the river valley, Taste of Edmonton at Churchill Square dt, KDays and KDays music festival at the Exhibition Grounds, and I'm sure several other smaller local events around the city. The same storm produced a tornado just west of Rocky Mountain House, and I think another one somewhere else. Just relentless storm activity around these parts the last couple of weeks.
Things cooled down yesterday, and it was mostly unsettled with scattered showers and lots of wind throughout the day, but most events were able to continue as planned—if they managed to get things cleaned up from the night before.

There was also the very rare mountain Tornadoes, spotted near Hinton and Robb.
Video coming out from Rocky shows a lot of damage but thankfully mostly trees but some farm buildings. 1 video shows a wild fire crew clearing downed trees off the highway.
Lots more rain again this morning, I guess Trump was true to his word and turned on the Taps in California and aimed it at the Canada wildfires.
And we now have heavy smoke from Washington State.

Finally got some good rain at my place last night, pretty intense thunderstorm at 3AM. Things were starting to get brown and crunchy in my area, looked pretty green again this morning.
Should be cooler today and tomorrow, then back into the heat for the rest of the week.

Doing some rough calculations today and as of this morning, Since May 1st Edmonton has received about 476mm of rain this year.

I think the smoke in YEG today is actually from up north, mainly the NWT. Would explain the north wind and cooler waether this morning.
26C with a humidex of 29 and sunny. Breezy. Mother Nature gave us 3 weeks of real heat that was it. Not that today was bad but with the dry air and breeze, it could hardly be considered HOT.
Average dewpoint this month has only been 15.2C which is the lowest for July since 2022 (14.6C).

I could have sworn I smelled a bit of smoke about 5:00 AM but nothing seemed to develop beyond that.
Monday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 25 C (29 C w/Humidex), the low was 14 C.

Another downpour at 1 am this morning. Lasted about an hour.
Edit: Okay at 6 am, the downpours are more continuous. It's been on and off downpours, but continuous downpour for the last two hours.
Recording Stations indicate between 17 and 36mm fell this morning. That puts Edmonton and over 200mm for July already. Normal is 89mm. We should be coming up on 500mm for June and July soon.
I'm still amazed that the infrastructure work is getting progress still. I saw a few places this morning where they have to pour concrete and the crews were putting forms up in the rain. So tomorrow they will pour.
Noticed my neighbours and my driveways are turning green with algae because of all the water. My deck needs another power wash because of mold, I never power wash for mold.
