I am still disappointed that trees were part of the Granville street redevelopment (at least so many and ones that will grow so tall) Smaller, slow growth trees (and fewer of them) would have been better.
Granville street should be about lights and animation, every other street in Vancouver is already about trees.
but i doubt Vision would ever do anything like that with those pictures. a lot of the lights in trees now i notice are left over from the 2010 Olympics. though i really do think it would be nice to have lights in the trees like in that picture above.
we should go back the the 70's where we had tons and tons and tons of neon lights, especially down Granville.

From the picture of Robson Street above, it appears to be Christmas.
Also, it depends on the quality and intensity of the lighting decorations.
The Robson Street version is not very original in design, or very bright.
Contrast that with the trees outside The Wedgewood, or in one or two pictures in the pix I submitted.
There is a difference in quality in ambience, depending how it's executed.
The ones along Park Royal during Christmas are pretty nice.
I suspect the Park Royal and Robson Street lighting for Christmas is being done by the mall owners, or the Robson Street Business Association.
Likely the city isn't involved, except to process the permits needed.
to be honest, i find this looks kind of dingy and just overall not pleasing. the yellowy tree lights just thrown on the trees. plus the street lights are brighter then all the strings of lights in all of those trees. it should be like the photo above where the tree lights are brighter so that street lights arent needed; they should also be wrapped around the branches show casing how different each tree grows.
in reply to another post, i much prefer the look of neon over LED's. i have never been a big fan of LED's to be honest. if there is a choice between a neon sign and LED sign i will take the neon every time.

I'm happy as long as there are lights of any sort. In a city that's grey and gloomy for much of the year, decorative lighting is very important.
