About the Fusion Projects painting of the industrial complex towers at False Creek;
somehow, intangibly, this has a sort of "Seattle" feeling about it. Hard to explain. Maybe it seems like the way Seattle might treat old industrial infrastructure, like Gasworks Park, or such. Also, in all honesty, False Creek has sort of a "lake" feeling to it, a bit like parts of Seattle,
and that may contribute to my perception as well.

They have been doing lots of filming in the area related to the new Flash series as well as Green Arrow filming restarting so it could've been that.

That's what I was thinking too.

They've scraped the old paint off the concrete surface and repainted.

The colours are slightly darker than before.

You can see the difference next to the painters' platform (although the surface was scraped)
Bentley's new lighter beige is warmer, and darker shade is more taupe. More contrast between the two shades.

Gallery's gray is darker and the mechanical penthouse is being painted (previously bare concrete?)

PS - note how Miro (3rd tower, to the right) has the smallest mechanical penthouse.
All 3 towers were by Polygon, presumably with different architects.
Gallery (gray) was 1st, then Miro, then Bentley.
Bentley has the biggest mechanical penthouse.

I can't believe the Bentley was built in 2005. Would have guessed 1993. All 3 towers are among my least favorite in downtown - deathly blandness which isn't compensated before by refinement.

There have been people doing some kind of work on the roof of the Canaccord tower for months now - they don't seem to be building anything, more just milling around...

i never realized (until seeing this pic) how fast the trees along Granville have grown since planting. it'll be interesting to see what happens when the trees completely envelop the light poles..

I am still disappointed that trees were part of the Granville street redevelopment (at least so many and ones that will grow so tall) Smaller, slow growth trees (and fewer of them) would have been better.

Granville street should be about lights and animation, every other street in Vancouver is already about trees.

I completely agree with you on this...th sonly consolation I can think of is that eventually the trees will become taller than the lights (see those in the holt renfrew block...these are the same species) and then limbed within the light zone

May I add to the agreement.
I think small, twisty evergreens, the type sometimes seen in ornamental gardens might have worked, especially if lit up with tivoli lights or such.
The Mall trees are deciduous, which is fine in the warmer half of the year, but depressing from November to April.

Cadillac Fairview just put up a poster in the lobby of TD Tower which says they are going to redo (i.e. re-tar) the roof (don't think it has started yet) So they could have done work on Canaccord Tower too.

Canaccord re-roofing project is already underway. TD is starting Or has already started.

Checked the poster again this morning - It says TD Tower's roof replacement is from July - October 2014 - so it must already be underway.

Yep. Despite people's distrust in my eyes, they don't lie. This was taken a week ago. Some serious power tools in use already.

Rounded balconies look so 70s. That building fits in the area... not in a good way.
