Hi guys, first post.

As someone who grew up in and still lives close by I just love Amazing Brentwood and would love to buy in the building, the two bedroom with the huge balcony is amazing to me... however so few units in the building they are both sold out.

I have been told a third tower will becoming soon but even then I might not have the money saved up to buy into it *sigh*

Welcome.

It's refreshing to hear someone talk about saving up for a condo. I don't think that happens much anymore.

Man, the pit is huge nowadays. You cannot really even see it from this angle, but here's a quick cellphone shot. It is damn impressive sight.

50-story towers + big mall require a ton of underground parking.

I saw this site for the first time in a long time today and I was pretty gobsmacked at the size of it.

I wonder what society will do with all the underground parking once automobile ownership goes the way of the dodo. You can't build something new to replace it since it's part of a worthwhile building's foundation. Maybe they could expose the sides by digging the ground and create below-grade patios? Giant underground skate parks? Perhaps they could put the bus depots underground, or put skytrain track in there for storage? Underground pools? Insectariums to produce all the insects we'll need to be eating once we run out of other food? Maybe everyone will flock to the underground parking just because they need shade and coolness to escape the global heat waves.

Private car ownership isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The sky's not going anywhere either, chicken little.

The comfort and convenience of the private car still trumps other forms of transport. even if there were thousands of self driving google mobiles they would still need a place to park

I was just talking to my Dad about this. Even with his love of driving, he expects that self driving cars will become the norm. Those vehicles will still need a place to park - so yeah parking won't disappear anytime soon. Maybe in the distant future underground parking can be converted into something like PATH.

Not soon... but what about 50 years in the future?

It's an interesting question at a time when the ideas of private car ownership is starting to change.

They can convert them to underground bunkers for shelters and food ration storage, post armageddon of course.

Seriously, have you thought of shared vehicles, private electric cars, bikes, e-bikes, etc? These vehicles need storage too. If there is really a huge drop in private vehicles, giant underground parkades can also be converted to markets, cold storage facilities, etc.

Mini-storage for all the condo residents or third parties...

Remember that the original plans for Brentwood had the big box store - Target? - in the underground level, but when Target retreated, the underground space became parking.
I wonder if they could revert the underground space back to retail, or whether the infrastructure for that is gone from the plans?

I thought it would be awesome to have an underground Skytrain line on Willingdon from Hastings to Brentwood, and then an elevated line past BCIT (which is at a lower elevation) before going underground again to Metrotown, south of Central Park and then west on either 49th or 41st to Cambie (possibly beyond in the distant future). Some of the underground parking at Brentwood and Metrotown would then be converted to something like PATH with connections to both the mall and the Skytrain station.

That would use up some of the current underground parking if there ends up being too much. But it comes down to "show me the money"... who's going to pay for it.

Took my parents to the presentation center today so that they could look at the show units. While the presentation center was open (cupcakes and coffee still given out), the show homes were closed for renovations in preparation for the sale of the third tower, to be launched mid September. Was told that the one bedroom units would be the same but the 2, 2+ and 3 bedroom units would be different. Was also told that only 13 units remain to be sold for the second tower.

It can be sold off to Google to house the data center to run all the google cars. Since the business model of google is to track everything about you (giving you free things in return) so it can sell the data to retailers it is only fitting that it be located in the basement of a mall and residential tower.

More seriously certain the auto is not going anywhere. Each stall is owned by an owner of one of the suites. If we do reach the point where driving is less common certain it will be converted into stored on a unit by unit basis.

Cool. Good to see this project chugging along nicely. It's tricky to tell from the rendering, but what is the height variation (if any) between the three towers?

Yeah, they look very similar in height. I think the difference will come from the remaining 7 towers that will be shorter. It will look like a mega-cluster once completed.

I thought Tower 3 was going to look quite a bit different? The renders a few pages back were showing a much wider sleeker tower.
