I wonder what society will do with all the underground parking once automobile ownership goes the way of the dodo. You can't build something new to replace it since it's part of a worthwhile building's foundation. Maybe they could expose the sides by digging the ground and create below-grade patios? Giant underground skate parks? Perhaps they could put the bus depots underground, or put skytrain track in there for storage? Underground pools? Insectariums to produce all the insects we'll need to be eating once we run out of other food? Maybe everyone will flock to the underground parking just because they need shade and coolness to escape the global heat waves.
