From just down the street...quite the imagery. WTF is with that quasi 3rd floor..or is it a potemkin floor. Mismatched roof lines on a semis don't look good either. I imagine comparitively these houses aren't cheap yet they have carports.. I'm sure in the winter there will be a sea of the dreaded quebec driveway accessory the 'tempo' on that street.

Pickup trucks are part of the vernacular of North American culture. When undereducated macho meets (relatively) cheap gasoline, and aggressive marketing. Pickup trucks are the Budweiser of the vehicle world.

Great analogy re: Bud and pickups.

My B-I-L is a car salesman and he loves pickups. I showed him photos of our trip to France/Italy and his response was 'those roads are too narrow for a pickup'. Our 16 year old son responded with 'europe doesn't need those ugly things clogging up the streets'.

He scoffed at the photo I took of our 6' tall son standing beside a mid 70's Fiat 500 in Italy, saying 'wtf is that tiny thing'.

Most european tradespeople use small vans (Bedford Van) and there is a sub-culture called White Van Man

Going back through old favourites on YouTube. They probably delighted me when I discovered them, and most still do... but... one more for this thread.

She was born here, her parents are from here, she can do our accent the same way Oprah can do a ghetto one, all of that, it's all fine... she has every right to claim our culture as her own - but she clearly has no idea what Screechin' In is about. And she thinks that cold medicine dog is a Newfoundland Dog lol. She implies local do it for luck. I can count on one hand the number of times Screech has touched my lips. It happens at weddings, sure, if there are Come From Aways in attendance. But it has nothing to do with luck or locals. It's a ceremony for people from outside, to welcome them here.
