All of these routes are being replaced with DH4s instead of CR9s as well

Also a transborder winter update for US carriers:

Approx 9 daily

United - 4 daily (DEN 2, ORD 1, IAH 1)
Delta - 2 daily (MSP 1, SLC 1)
American - 2 daily (DFW)
Alaska - 6 weekly (SEA)
Yes, I believe YQR/YXE/YYJ/YMM/YQU/YWG downgrades were done a few months ago. They seem to have very recently updated to show the further drops.

Looks like SLC was upgraded to mainline.

Yep & Air Canada suspending the Calgary YYC - Yellowknife YZF route this winter makes WestJet Encore happy as they will be operating it 1x daily, but from December 10 2022- January 3 2023 for busy Christmas holiday season is 2x daily.

Pretty abysmal performance by Jazz on some of those regional RJ frequencies all summer. Curious to see what changes they make for S23.

The 737s all have a PY cabin that is basically the same as NA J narrowbody service and the premium service isn't going anywhere. In fact, I bet they make some decent profits on these products.

Once the Sunwing fleet is absorbed, it will probably go to Swoop.
I have status with WS and qualify for the free bump up to the premium cabin on the 737 if space is available at the gate. Before COVID I had a good chance of getting bumped up especially on the puddle jumping flights in Western Canada where no one in their right mind would be paying for it. Post COVID the front cabin has always been full. I think they are doing a better job of get last minute paid upgrades either at time of booking, from an e-mail they send out a few days before or at check in.

These terrible computer systems at both AC and WS are making it harder and harder for frequent flyers to get free upgrades.

BCN is rumoured to get a new long haul destination for next summer on a seasonal basis. Route has never been served. There’s a good chance it’s WS from YYC.

Before the end of the year, an airline will announce a new long-haul route for the next summer season 2023. It will be seasonal and unprecedented for El Prat. As soon as the official announcement is made, we will give the pertinent details.

AC has removed IAH now until May 1, 2023. What are the odds this just won't ever come back?

Just posted this in YVR thread. Looks like AC moved the service to YVR for the winter, with YVR-IAH scheduled until Apr 30, 2023.

Maybe this is from the JV with UA? AC runs the YVR route, UA runs the YYC route.

AC has removed YYC-HNL as well

YYC-LAX decreased to once daily only and on a CR9 no less
YYC-SFO reduced to once daily CR9

Westjet continues to push AC out I think.

IAH cut and SFO reduced to once daily as well. EWR reduced to 6x weekly. YKA is also reduced to only once daily. UA seems to have suspended IAH for a month In January?

UA has only removed IAH from Dec 14 - Jan. 3

Still shows 1x daily.

AC transborder has effectively been reduced to 5 daily.

Daily 7M8s to EWR, PHX, LAS
Daily CR9s to LAX, SFO
+ 3 weekly 7M8 to OGG

Very weak

AC adds 2x weekly YYC-YXT on days 14 starting November.

Seems like they took over the route after WS pulled out?

The 2x daily 7M8 to LAX they were showing was nuts and seemed to have no correlation to the actual number of bodies they're moving on AC570 presently.

But yes... this is very concerning for AC and there's no real good way to spin it.

This is awful for Calgary.

We talk about what’s going on as a single route dropped here, a frequency reduction there. But, big picture, YYC is in decline and our city is losing its ease of access to the rest of the world. We went from being over-served for a city of our size pre-pandemic to now, all-too-often, requiring multiple connections (IAH via YVR??!?).

As a business center, it’s becoming increasingly challenging to travel to/from YYC. Sure, great domestic service and good vacation routes. But you’re increasingly scr*wed if you’re a business traveller coming to or from Calgary. Cross-border is increasingly (very) difficult. Latin America is now no different for us than YQR.

For business travel, it seems like we may be destined to becoming nothing more than a feeder spoke from YVR.
