Yeah the TTC gave the lines numbers to address that incongruity but in common speech I bet most people still use the old names for the lines.

No, just look at this, clearly says university line, after the renos, and the pic I posted was Yonge line. The people in charge of the wayfinding clearly are missing the point.

There's a big yellow 1. University and Yonge are still branches of Line 1. It's not that confusing.

Yes this seems like whinging about a problem that doesn't exist. The TTC (rightly IMO) reflected that the monikers "Yonge" and "University" line are still common parlance while allowing for a common identifier. This is not in any way complicated.

Similarly situations like "Lawrence East" vs. "Lawrence West". If that is confusing to someone I highly suggest they don't go to New York.

I've never seen any serious consideration to build the DRL anywhere other than Queen.

So, once the new part of the subway, will it be the same fare as TTC or 2 fares?

One fare, like any other connected subway line.

Ottawa Confederation Line stage 3 to Kanata. No word on when construction would start, but I would guess 2023-24 as soon as stage 2 is fully operational. The CTC will finally get rapid transit... 5 years after the Sens move downtown.

Rideau Centre subway entrance next to a newly opened compact/urban grocery store;

The new store along with the escalator down to the LRT completely change the mall experience. Has a lot more of a "big city" feel.

A poor hesitant clueless soul trying to figure out the right exit in the middle of this is either a nuisance or a hazard. It's best to keep it simple so that every stair/escalator from the platforms goes up to the same concourse where the choices for exits can then be made.

Looking at what's proposed, it doesn't seem like an unreasonable effort to unite the two concourses:
Strange to see a completed entrance considering the station itself looks like this;

They plan on opening 10-15 location in the next 3 years (they currently have 25, 26 if you count the one they have at the Canadian Tire Centre, open only during Sens home games).

It is funny that the link refers to them as imitating Trader Joe's, as I think it's a really good comparison (albeit FB has better produce). I really love smaller stores like FB where you actually have less choice rather than more...makes grocery shopping so much more efficient!

Is the general consensus in Ottawa that the line is going to be delayed given the work remaining on the underground stations, or is this all going to come together pretty quickly in time for testing?

The City is still trying to convince us that the line will be completed by the end of May 2018 (elections October 22, 2018). But I think a lot of us doubt that.

Turnover of the line to the city in May 2018 does not mean that the line will be ready for revenue service immediately. With an election in October, getting it into service significantly before that will be a priority.

The line is going to open "mid-year", likely with some sort of phasing, where the line will possibly run for a few free-to-ride demonstration weekends or something like that before full revenue service. Exact details and timing will be announced on Friday.

Interesting. I've only heard King and the rail corridor of late. Regardless, I'm not wrong with Queen being too close to Union for a secondary intercity rail hub.

It's good to see the Edmonton Valley Line progressing. Here's hoping they don't screw it up like they did the northern extension.

I think they may already have by putting the line at grade and crossing some fairly major roads. Big mistake IMHO.
