do we know the exact dates for games in Toronto and Vancouver ?

I don't get the impression of too much Excitement for this tournament. Not sure why I feel this way.

People don't seem to be embracing this in Vancouver like they did for 2010 Winter Olympics.

and I am concerned about a terrorist attack.
Yeah, I'd say a little too late for Edmonton, especially if you are thinking replacing Toronto or Vancouver. And I think it would be natural for an Olympic host city to have a little more buzz around it several months ahead, if there was indeed buzz in late fall 2009 leading into the games. I mean, the World Cup might be a bigger event on a national and world scale, but an Olympics is definitely a more major event to the host city itself so it would be natural for a city to be more excited about them this early. How are tickets selling in Toronto and Vancouver? All I hear about Toronto is the multiple of face prices people are paying for tickets, I'm not out west so not as tuned in to that there.

I sometimes think we overstate the value of a shiny big stadium. People are coming to watch soccer, not look at the stadium. And I agree that there's no point in another 50k plus stadium unless the NFL moves in, which doesn't look likely in the near future.

Latest pic of renovations.

The black curtains are hanging to keep the interior of the stadium as near as possible to room temperature.

I'd like to see that ugly scoreboard at the far end replaced with 10,000 Red seats.

Assuming a new Government is Elected in October, will this Roof project be Cancelled by a New government ?

Such as the Rhinocerous Party.

870 million smakaronies is a lot of money that could go elsewhere.

Remember this project is in Stages. They could finish the installation of the Roof technical ring which you can clearly see in this image and leave the Stadium Open air.

Which will be perfect for Baseball. And a Monster Truck show.

And an Outdoor Winter hockey game. And Taylor Swift.

I don't believe the Final roof is a done deal. There must be some Out clause in the contract, there usually is in every contract.

Open air is fine with me.

BC Place's new Roof costed $ 365 million and another $ 200 million for associated upgrades.

And another $ 100 million was spent on upgrades for the World Cup.

This will be the most concerts BC Place has ever held in one year — eight!

AC/DC - August 13th
Noah Kahan - August 28th
Guns n' Roses - August 29th (smart to book back-to-back shows, they only have to build the stage structure once!)
Foo Fighters - September 20th
Bruno Mars - October 14th, 16th, 17th, 20th

Guns & Roses is still Banned from playing at Olympic Stadium.

Comparing European cities to Toronto don't cut it. Soccer has been embedded in Europe for a long time and is closer to religion than sport. Sport in Toronto and Canada as a whole comes nowhere near the passion, and yes that includes millions of suffering Leafs fans.
Toronto FC gets more in attendance than the entire League of Ireland.

If anyone wants to know where our new arena will (hopefully) be, go to 11:14 of this video. It's the big parcel of land on the left side of the LRT tracks

Not ideal for soccer as seats are too far away from the pitch. No grass pitch means planning to install one should have started last year.

For FIFA, lots of hospitality upgrades needed. Edmonton also isn't glamourous enough, don't have enough hotels, airport is too far away and city is too far away from other World Cup cities to be part of a node.

500 million requests for 7 million tickets shows there is lots of embracing. Canada is 3rd highest country for ticket demand. Toronto R32 match is 5th most in demand match. Canada opener in Toronto min ticket price is now dynamically priced by FIFA at over $1k.

that's the problem with building an Olympic Games or Commonwealth Games sized Stadium for Track and Field.

the sightlines get hammered.

other than for a Taylor Swift concert, for any field sports it's very Unattractive.

Built from scratch though, you can build in retractable seating to open up the field for track, and then extends out for soccer/football.

The Hamilton Ti-cats announced a new end zone area that for this season that will be expandable for the 2027 season, as you can see if this render. Looks a little to dark, but I assume people will like the cover for shade or from rain and snow. I know these types of seats are what the league needs to add to attract a younger demographic

Maybe they scored a TD and the entire team is celebrating with the fans and the Argos are so dejected they haven't moved
