I’m thinking the music venue will have steel roof since concrete is not good at spanning large ceilings without support. I believe everything else will be concrete since steel is not widely used in Atlanta

Live-music industry giant Live Nation Entertainment has agreed to join a planned stadium district in downtown Atlanta, the latest bet that the demand for live events is enough to power an entire real-estate sector.

Live Nation committed to lease a 5,300-seat entertainment venue at Centennial Yards, the more than $5 billion mixed-use megaproject under construction next to the Atlanta Hawks’ basketball arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the city’s professional football and soccer teams play.

Centennial Yards is one of a growing number of master plans around the U.S. where sports teams and developers are joining forces to build sprawling real-estate developments with stadiums as the centerpiece. In this case, Hawks owner Tony Ressler is teaming up with his brother Richard Ressler’s development firm CIM Group.

The addition of a Live Nation concert venue aims to draw major headliners and internationally touring performers to downtown Atlanta when it opens in 2027. The new venue will be one of the largest of Live Nation’s indoor theaters.

A week or so ago I posited the question of whether the COSM and Music Venue buildings would be concrete poured in place or steel beam construction. It appears we have our answer, at least for COSM. Steel baby. Exciting. Should be much faster than concrete.

Excited to see it appears there is really a lot of space next to the train tracks that could accommodate rail platforms for a train station. If you look at the supports for the road which will run along the rail ROW, there is no parking beneath. Potential they could run a rail track beneath that as well as another where the tree lines are. Hard to say how many platforms they could build there, but I believe it is conceivable. I’m sure there is enough space in the GWCC area (near the new bus depot) to build a train hall. CY would probably more than accommodate the train station as that would bring in customers for business as they wait for their train

I could dream. I don't think we'll be getting a rail station here unless city, state and federal government all went in on it hard. CoA is run by amateurs and need to be carried by more capable leaders and the state govts relationship is antagonistic towards CoA. So not looking great by my estimation.

Here's to holding out hope. Maybe if things get crowded and jammed up enough, the states hand will be forced and they will fully get behind rail expansion.

Also notable is a new planned residential building with retail village south of the entertainment district.

I really, really hope they do end up keeping the smaller fairlie-poplar-esque blocks when the future phases come to fruition. After how things have been going, I am thinking there is a 50% chance they continue to revise plans and end up doing larger, less uniform blocks.

We shall see. I'm still stoked anything is even happening here at all. I've just had to revise my expectations as things have progressed.

Awesome shots, Julien! You can see the first above-grade columns rising for the hotel tower. The steel frame for COSM also looks to have grown. Can't wait for everything to be above-grade so we can get a real sense of how this thing will look in real life.

Upon taking a closer look at the hotel on Elliot St, It's apparent to me that if this rendering is correct, they have drastically changed this buildings dimensions. Previous reporting on Urbanize and other sites shows the building stretching the full width from Mitchell Street to Nelson Street. But in these latest renderings, it seems to stop roughly midway at around the point where the Fire stations property line starts across the street.
