You'd probably feel sadder if you had. It was utterly unremarkable, and a bit of a maze. I went there a few times re: my Ticat tickets and to visit the team store when it was there.

I remember going there with my dad back when it was the Ticats' office too. It was just a bland, 90s/00s-looking office really

I went once, to buy a jersey I think. It was so dead quiet in there it was kind of awkward, just the sound of you moving around and the cash person breathing. Needed some music or something.

Might need to change the thread title. Demolition's nearly finished, they're down to the foundation now. Should be starting construction by the summertime.

I remember when it was part of the Ministry of Labour. Don Drury, former councillor, used to work from there as a lawyer for the Ministry. There was nothing special about the building.

Pretty sure I beat y'all, having been in the place when it was Hamilton Squash Club or Racquetball Club .... quite a while back! Back in the days when we would hit up Rave Records for the used vinyl

This side street really did have a little bit of everything, eh?

According to the directories, there was still a sheet metal manufacturer here in the 60s. There used to be a lot of factories where the Int'l village is now, actually. They grew around the Ferguson Ave. tracks back when it was functionally a mainline.

I'm really curious as to when this project and 75 James South actually break ground. Both have their demolitions basically complete. I'm hoping soon?

made quick work of that building demo. Too much to ask to see excavators on site within the next month? or at least shoring equipment

They're still digging downward and removing rubble.

I don't think they're excavating yet. The building permits on this site show the shoring and excavation permit hasn't been issued yet, it's under review still. You can check address permits I found out here: buildingpermits.hamilton.ca

Likely filling in for safety until the permits for excavation and shoring are issued. Still in review according to city site.

It's pretty standard for it to be backfilled following demolition in order to allow the shoring rigs to operate.

I'm assuming you're talking about public sales? There were posts of people buying them back in March and April.

It's clear that the demand for condos in downtown Hamilton is enormous. Why the city works so hard to deny applications is unbelievable. This city could be something special, a mini version of Toronto. But instead we have had years of stagnation because of an incompetent council and staff.

I wonder how many are speculators or looking to rent their units out, vs. people who actually intend to live in them.

But the demand is definitely there and growing.
