Can't wait for Dollarama to be the main first-floor tenant.

I drove past the former Pump Roadhouse property this morning and noticed the for sale sign states 'conditionally sold'. It may have been mentioned in here previously, but can someone refresh my memory as to why the planned mosque has not been approved? Was this another NIMBY issue?

Last I hear it was still a proposed mosque site, but they didn't have the finances lined up.

That's my fear. The day Tim's opens in the park, it will be a garbage dump of disposible stupid cups because people are so damned ignorant.

My sense was that it was more of a financial issue than a NIMBY issue. But I might be wrong.
(their current mosque at Montague & Argyle is bursting at the seams, and while they certainly do their best to manage traffic during Ramadan & other significant days, it's still a strain on the neighbourhood. From everything I've heard, the neighbours are very accomodating & understanding (read: not being NIMBYs) - it's more the Islamic Assoc that feels an additional space is needed).

Two different sites. The front is a former gas station. The back is where the mosque is to be.

Ah! I assumed they were purchasing both properties. As drofmab stated, they need a lot of parking especially during Ramadan. I searched for info on the mosque and have attached the link to the Leader-Post article from October 23, 2018. I do see that it states that they would like to see construction start "within a few years".

It looks like the gas station property is going to have a car wash built on it. It is before the planning commission right now.

Okay, now that makes sense about the 'conditional sale' notice on that property's for sale sign. Thanks for posting that.

That will at least blend in better than that red and white one from earlier.

I don't know how anyone can defend this project. Arguably the most corrupt thing to have happened by the Sask Party.

Conexus was just as corrupt. People just give them a pass because they erroneously believe they are morally better than banks.

Both are horrendously corrupt.

The Brandt one sits worse for me because the Sask Party is still ramming it through despite widespread hatred for both this and the Conexus project.

Neither should have happened.

That's just your personal opinion. The building is fine and will be a nice addition.

So you're okay with Brandt getting millions of dollars of land for $1/year?
